Dr. Marlys Rixey, LCPC
About me
Hello, I am Dr. Marlys Rixey, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Maryland. I am also a National Certified Counselor. My interest in Mind/Body Health lead me to a Masters in The Expressive Arts as Therapy with a concentration in Dance/Movement, Breathwork and Meditation. I continued my studies focusing on Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Humanistic and Positive Psychology, and Jungian and Existential therapy. I received my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with research in Behavioral Cardiology. This eclectic combination of studies has allowed me to personalize my approach to each individual.
I work within a strength based model, allowing individuals to focus on their competence and resilience. Empowering individuals to gain more control of their emotions and understand their behavior increases increases awareness which facilitates growth and change.
Although I have spent most of my life on the east coast, I love to travel out west and spend time in the mountains. I love the arts, especially music, as well as exploring different cultures.
I look forward to connecting with you on your journey of self exploration.
