I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Mental Health Therapist for 17 years. I earned my masters in social work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2002. Since I live in a rural area with little access to mental health services; I have had the opportunity to work with all populations. I have been the most effective in assisting those who experience depression, anxiety (including related diagnoses like OCD and sleep disorders) , and relationship problems (intimate relationships, family issues, and parenting). I view all my practice through the lens of trauma-informed care and consider the whole person; not just individual symptoms. My approach is eclectic and client-driven. I will assist you in formulating a treatment plan that will be ever adapting to your current needs.
I am licensed in Wyoming where I reside, and Nevada for my annual volunteer work at Burning Man. I have attended the event for 9 years and I volunteer on the Crisis Intervention Team. I take three generations of my family. The annual experience combines three of my favorite things: camping, family, and artistic expression. My friends describe me as "The most approachable person in the room." I know how hard is it to seek support and I never make people feel judged or minimize their experiences. Helping people help themselves is my passion. I like the Better Help platform because people can often feel stuck and unable to take the multiple steps needed to seek counseling in a traditional office setting.
I am looking forward to assisting you in meeting your potential and helping improve your daily quality of life! You have taken the first step. Let's get started.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Mary Jo Greenwood. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
She really listen to me and always has the answer. Plus she has a great memory
Wonderful to work with, very understanding and knowledgeable. I always feel better after a session with Mary Jo. I would absolutely recommend her to a friend or colleague!
Mary Jo is compassionate and has helped me by giving me actionable steps. She is an excellent therapist.
I’m 3 weeks into using BetterHelp and having Mary Jo as a counsellor and I cannot recommend them enough. She’s really friendly and really listens to everything that I say. I have a lot of hope that I can work through my situation and get to a much better place.
Great therapist, really glad I found this service. She listens well as guides me to think about certain things that I usually wouldn’t
Mary Jo's kindness, support and understanding helped me start dealing with difficult past and present situations. It was easy to open up and talk to her about myself and my life. I am grateful for the betterhelp service and feel very fortunate to have had Mary Jo Greenwood as a counselor. Thank you
I can't thank her enough!
After two sessions, I have learned from Mary Jo. That says it all!
Although it is early into my counseling with Mary Jo Greenwood I feel that I trust her and she has experience within the area of my issues. She is flexible for when I am having a bad day and even when my head is a bit scattered this is ok and I feel like I lead the session mostly. She is friendly and always positive. I feel as though I can talk to her about my inner secrets which i have been unable to do so for a long time.
Mary Jo is a great therapist!
Wonderful person! Thanks so much!
We are still in the beginning stages so she lets me talk a lot and guides the conversion questions. She gives me things to look up or homework to apply throughout the week that I don't see her which I really like.
I’ve always been incredibly nervous and reluctant to do counseling so I wasn’t quite sure of what to expect with starting this. Mary Jo has made me feel extremely comfortable and safe. She has brought me new insight and solid advice on many different situations. I feel empowered to overcome any issues with having her to talk to. I’m very grateful to have her as my counselor. BetterHelp has been amazing and I’m so happy I started. ❤️
Mary Jo Greenwood is very patient and a great listener. So far I've really enjoyed the sessions with her.
I adore Mary Jo. I was nervous to start therapy but she listened to me like a friend and helped me understand why I think the way I do rather than make me feel like I was wrong for thinking that way. I wasn’t sure that therapy would be beneficial for me because I didn’t know what my goal was. After one session with her, I felt validated and hopeful.
Very helpful and understanding.
