Hi! My name is Mary. I've been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California for over 10 years. I earned my Master's of Science in Counseling with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling from San Francisco State University in 2003. I decided to pursue my Master's because I was working with people in my community--and saw the benefits that they were gaining from working with Therapists. I decided that that was a way I could help them even more! Before that, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Women's Studies from the University of California at Santa Cruz. Some of my previous work has included domestic violence, sexual assault, school-based therapy, institutional-based therapy, group therapy, individual and couples-based therapy, family therapy and art therapy.
I have extensive experience working with individuals and families who have presented with a wide variety of issues. Some of the more common issues include anxiety, depression, substance abuse issues, and relationship issues. I work from a client-centered perspective, meeting the client where they are at regarding their need for help. Together, I work with the client to define their personal goals through the use of techniques such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness.

Mary is very nice to talk to. She has a great way of communicating and bringing up things in different ways that I would otherwise not see. She's also very helpful and patient and seems to care about her patients. I would highly recommend her. She's helped me realize a lot in a shot time span and in thankful to have been paired with her.
