About me

Hello there! My names is Mason Youell and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I graduated in 2007 from Barry University's School of Social Work and have been a practicing clinical social worker since that time. I began my career working for a not-for-profit mental health provider in a rural county in western North Carolina. During that time I began working with individuals with severe and persistent mental health symptoms as well as those struggling with substance use disorders. After 5 years of community based mental health work I transitioned to the Department of Veterans Affairs where I have had the privilege of supporting the Veterans of our country. Being a part of the Veterans Health Administration has given me the opportunity to develop the clinical tools needed to support the complexity of challenges individuals experience today. If you are someone who experiences and struggles with depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, managing overwhelming feelings or intrusive thoughts, and substance use disorders then I believe I have the skillset needed to support you on your recovery journey .

As a clinical social worker I believe in, and practice from, the recovery model of providing services. This means that the people I support are the ones to establish the treatment goals. I view my relationship with my clients as a partnership where I am given the opportunity of accompanying them on their wellness journey. I believe, and hold the hope, that EVERYONE as the capacity to heal and reach their recovery goals no matter what they may be.
