Hello and welcome! My name is Matthew and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Ohio with over 4-years of experience working in the mental health field. I consider psychology, mental health, and the inner-experience as a life-long passion of mine and strive to keep improving in my knowledge and therapeutic application.
I am founded in and pay respect to the natural healing that comes from genuine human connection. My aim is to create a non-judgmental and secure atmosphere in counseling that is driven by mutual respect and a shared curiosity between myself and clients. My treatment outlook is mainly existential and spiritual in nature, focusing on our ability to develop our own consciousness to manage difficult emotions and strengthen positive ones. I am a firm believer in the rich experience of the inner-world and respect the role our intuition plays in daily life to help us take those practical steps that lead to change. I have considerable experience using mindfulness and meditation in a therapeutic setting, and can accommodate either a clinical or traditional Buddhist presentation.
A genuine connection in therapy can truly be the catalyst for meaningful and lasting positive growth, and I would be honored to be a part of that with you.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Matthew McKinley. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
I have had a handful of therapist before Mathew with little results. Mathew has helped me tremendously! He took me though a dark time in my life and taught me how to thrive. I am ADHD and Mathew’s expertise has given me a better understanding on how to process things. I am 50 years old and working with Mathew for the last few months has made more of a positive change in my life than the first half century of my life.
Great sessions, Matt’s insight is helping me a great deal.
I've had a few therapists over the years and Matthew is definetely the best i've had. He is non-judgemental which is exactly what I need. He also has helpful responses to everything I talk about.
Amazing therapist he's been helping me through the hardest time in my life and I can't thank him enough for the suport.
Great therapist. He asks the right questions and he is an acute listener. Matthew is very intuitive and brings unique and diverse perspectives to each conversation. I feel better after each chat.
Matthew has helped me tremendously in guiding me through this rough patch of my life. His insight and ability to help talk me through my feelings and emotions has helped take a huge weight off my shoulders and helped with my stress
I truly enjoyed my video sessions with Matthew. He gave me an opportunity through email before our first video session to outline what I needed from the session and what my concerns were.
He is an excellent listener and helped me to figure out the source of my anxious feelings.
I felt free to talk about my problems, unjudged and supported.
