Matthew Miller, LMFT
About me
I am licensed in North Carolina with 4 years of professional counseling experience and 18 years of experience as a Military Chaplain. I specialize in trauma counseling and couples counseling. I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and individuals. At the heart of my therapy is the desire to help people form strong emotional connections with their significant others and recover from the damaging effects of trauma. Areas of treatment have been in the following: adjustment, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship issues, dysfunctional family dynamics, grief and loss, attachment issues, marriage issues, stress and anger management, sexual abuse, and trauma. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.

It has been a pleasure getting to know Matthew Miller as my therapist. He is a great listener who engages in counseling with meaningful questions. I appreciate that I am not having to repeat tons of information each session. I feel like he takes good notes and remembers important details. Definitely recommend!

Matthew is an amazing therapist. I’m happy that he is the person I get to speak with on a regular basis and I cannot imagine speaking to anyone else. He connects with me in multiple ways and levels, especially with his experience. Therapy was not something I was open to, but upon speaking to him he is exactly the person I needed. I’ve made such good progress thus far, and I look forward to the progression I make in the future!

I’ve tried many therapists - men, women, younger, older but Matthew is THE ONE. I can’t think of having another therapist. He’s helped me in so many ways including challenging me to think. He doesn’t give me answers- he pulls on the threads I give him.
He’s extremely personable and an excellent listener. Often times it doesn’t even feel like therapy. I could not recommend him enough!
