About me
Welcome!
My name is Matt Poje, LPCC. I specialize in the healing of emotional trauma, using the Instinctual Trauma Response method (ITR). I have 15 years working with Veterans via Department of Defense contracts, and over 23 yrs of professional work experience. I am licensed in CA and WI.
The ITR method uses over 100 years of neuroscience to help heal the brain. Since ITR uses neuroscience, you will learn the steps of the ITR method that will help you to become more resilient.
ITR is not talk therapy in the classical sense. ITR is a focused, purposeful method of trauma healing and proven to work. If you are ready to work on a proven method of reducing symptoms of trauma, I look forward to work with you.
I do not perform diagnostic tests. I use screening tools, and therefore will not provide any letters to employers or court systems.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Matthew Poje. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Matthew Poje is one of the few Trauma Specialists on BetterHelp. He uses a method called "ITR" (Intuitive Trauma Response) which is different from other trauma approaches I have tried. I highly recommend Matthew. He is kind, compassionate, cheery and warm. As a female patient I usually choose older female therapists - so this is a positive change for me to work with a male therapist. I enjoy my sessions with Matthew. Addressing Trauma can be overwhelming & difficult, but Matthew has found a way to make it less so - and possibly even "fun" - if that's even possible. I dread working on Traumatic past events, but I always walk away from my sessions with a smile on my face - and thinking "Wow, that wasn't so hard after all!" If you have Trauma, I recommend trying a few sessions with Matthew. I've already referred 3 people to him. I know how DIFFICULT it is to find a good Trauma Therapist 🫶🏻❤️🩹🫂
