About me

My name is Matt Semanision. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you. My approach to therapy is honest, open communication, with mutual respect being of utmost importance. My wish for you is that you feel safe so you are able to share your thoughts, feelings and emotions. I feel the only way you will be able to get anything out of our therapeutic relationship is you and I working together on establishing mutually agreed upon goals. I will help you identify goals more clearly and guide you in making decisions. In my experience, some people are afraid to enter therapy for fear of making changes in their lives or being afraid of being told the “have to” do things. My approach will be absent of “have to” and will focus on “what do you want to do?” I employ a combination of cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psycho-dynamic and rational-emotive counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I will help you based on the information you provide me using proven, evidenced methods. Thank you and I look forward to working with you!
Best, Matt

Having Matt as a sounding board has been so valuable to my mental sanity as I navigated many relationship changes and continued exploring my needs outside of a relationship. As I entered a program for sex and love addiction, he was able to offer me many great insights to contribute to making my recovery journey successful. I appreciate him very much and am lucky to have found him here.

I feel Matthew is an extremely intelligent, very relatable, professional. You could be having a mental breakdown in the worst way, or your pet could pass away. He doesn’t make you feel crazy, acknowledges, and helps. If it’s what your looking for, then this guy is pretty awesome. You could literally say as little or as much as you want. I bet ya he’ll still get it, and be able to help. Smart dude.

I have been working with Matt for 6 months now and I can’t say enough how much I appreciate his input and suggestions on ways to process through my situation. I feel so much reassurance through our talks and it helps boost my confidence that I can make it through any of the trials and tribulations life throws at me. I have learned a couple valuable life mantras already that I use to guide me through my every day life, and it makes a world of difference!! Matt is excellent at what he does!!

Matt has a really easy going demeanor that I very much appreciate in a therapist. His approach feels more conversational than most therapy I have experienced where I felt as if I was being evaluated. I love his insights and how he supports me to get to a good place with a certain issue at my own pace.

I am so appreciative to have Matt as my counselor, he is wonderful. He is personable, compassionate, and honest. He does a great job with helping me find perspective on my personal matters. I really enjoy his counseling style and flexibility. It has gotten me through so many difficult days especially the past few months. I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

Matt is kind and compassionate. I've learned a lot from him, and he is helping greatly. Because of him, I've recommended BetterHelp to a couple of people and they've signed up.
