About me
Hi, I’m Melaney, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Kansas City, MO. I have over 15 years of experience working with adults, children and families on a kaleidoscope of issues and challenges. I am a mother of two in a neurodivergent family and the challenges related to this have always been an interest of mine. I am also passionate about working with clients healing from trauma, managing anxiety and depression, navigating a rigid world from a neurodivergent perspective, mending relationships, making big life changes, experiencing stuck-ness and confusion during challenging stages of development, and people struggling to move forward as we navigate through our collective pandemic experience.
My work with clients is rooted in finding self-compassion, motivation, and healing both through clinical methods and through everyday life experiences. I value collaboration and trust, and believe it is my responsibility to be transparent, versatile, and attuned. I utilize techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems and Behavioral Activation techniques. My understanding of the human experience is greatly informed by Family Systems Theory, Trauma-informed Care, theories of human development, and intersectional theories of liberation. Humor, realism, and starting from where you are are at are things I have learned over the years to be indispensable to the therapeutic process.
Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit about me, and I hope to have the chance to learn about you, too!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Melaney Courtice . We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
I have not had many sessions with Melaney, but the few that we have had have been very helpful. I find myself better equipped to deal with my issues and simply having an outlet to share my feelings. I like that I am also being challenged on my thought patterns in a healthy, helpful and supportive way. Melaney is always courteous and on time. It is very easy to book sessions with her and we make productive use of our sessions.
Melaney has been extremely helpful in my journey to recovery.
She understands my needs, and offers many alternative techniques to try and help. She's a great listener and very supportive. I highly recommend her services.
I loved working with Melaney, she challenged me and supported me. Thank you Melaney.
Melaney is really supportive and listens to me intently. She understands trauma in the context of neurodiversity which is not so easy to find, in my experience. Her approach has help me make gradual changes to my daily life and I can already notice changes in my mood and coping strategies after only a month of therapy.
Melaney is a fantastic therapist. She listens and responds in a way that makes you feel heard and understood. She is easy to talk to, respectful and experienced. She creates a safe space for all. I would highly recommend her to anyone struggling with life's challenges.
I am very comfortable with Melanie and appreciate the effort put in to understand the particulars of my situation.
