Hello, my name is Melanie Blaikie and am a LMHC with 20 plus years of experience in counseling people with different cultural backgrounds, genders, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, mental health conditions, addictions, trauma, and crisis interventions. I am licensed in New York State and focus on Self Actualization through meditation, mindfulness, and client centered therapy. I can show you how to rewire your brain to help reduce anxiety and depression. I also include alternative type treatments such as: EFT (tapping), dreamscapes, and other therapies that the client may be interested in such as Angel Therapy. Pain management and working with dementia are other areas that I address. I treat the whole person as the mind, body, and spirit are inherently connected. Life is hard and we all need support. I meet the client where they are and believe in working on a treatment plan together so they can be as well as they can be. I recognize that seeking out a therapist is hard but also brave. Therefore, I provide a safe and non-judgmental environment to explore a variety of issues and concerns. I have no issues bringing in spiritual elements, if this important to the client but will not do so if this is of no interest to the client. Nothing is too hard to deal with if the client is willing to explore it. Currently, my schedule is Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays (subject to change.)
Additional areas of focus: LGBT, Relationship issues, Family conflicts, Grief, Intimacy-related issues, Eating disorders, Sleeping disorders, Anger management, Career difficulties, Bipolar disorder, Coping with life changes, Compassion fatigue, ADHD, Abandonment, Aging and Geriatric Issues, Attachment Issues, Avoidant Personality, BDSM, Kink, Alternative Sex Culture, Body Image, Cancer, Caregiver Issues and Stress, Chronic Pain Illness and Disability, Co-morbidity, Codependency, Commitment Issues, Communication Problems, Control Issues, Coping with Natural or Human-Caused Disaster, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), Dissociation, Domestic Violence, Drug and Alcohol Addiction, Emptiness, Expats, Family of Origin Issues, Family Problems, First Responder Issues, Forgiveness, Gender Dysphoria, Guilt and Shame, HIV / AIDS, Hospice and End of Life Counseling, Impulsivity, Infidelity, Isolation / Loneliness, Jealousy, Life Purpose, Midlife Crisis, Military and Veterans Issues, Money and Financial Issues, Mood Disorders, Multicultural Concerns, Obsessions, Compulsions, and OCD, Panic Disorder and Panic Attacks, Paranoia, Phobias, Polyamory / Nonmonogamous Relationships, Postpartum Depression, Post-traumatic Stress, Prejudice and Discrimination, Process addiction (porn, exercise, gambling), Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), Self-Harm, Self-Love, Sexual Assault and Abuse, Sexuality, Social Anxiety and Phobia, Somatization, Traumatic Brain Injury, Women's Issues, Workplace Issues, Young Adult Issues

Mel is so supportive. She really creates a non-judgement all space for me and I feel like I can share anything with her. Having her to talk about family trauma with has been immensely helpful over the past year.

Melanie is a gifted therapist with profound empathy. She combines her years in therapy with a proactive approach empowering her clients to grow and reprogram old their old beliefs and stories. She has helped me regain my confidence which was pretty far gone and has reminded of who I am validating me and my experiences and also holding me accountable to treat myself and others well. She is a gem and I am blessed to have been matched with her. She understands PTSD on a level most therapists cannot and she has been helping me process my trauma through somatic work.
