Hello, I am a warm and non-judgmental therapist with a great ability to help those who are suffering to find clarity and calm. I have worked in various mental health settings throughout New York City and, more recently, in rural Upstate New York. I have a large amount of experience working with people of different countries, cultures, sexual orientations and gender identities. My work usually has two main focuses: helping you to build the skills necessary for coping with present stressors and helping you to heal past hurts that are holding you back. The techniques I use include mindfulness skills, techniques for helping with motivation, and methods for exploring and understanding the contradictory parts we all have inside of us. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a technique used for the healing of trauma. Although I will probably not be able to offer full EMDR treatment through the betterhelp platform, I will be utilizing some powerful methods involved in the trauma healing process. I am also trained in the treatment of dissociation, which many people experience to varying degrees in response to trauma, especially childhood trauma. My social work education and experience have given me a deep understanding about how our own families, communities, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds influence the ways we interact with and experience the world. I thoroughly enjoy working with clients from a variety of backgrounds.
