I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Indiana. I received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Purdue University and a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Christian Theological Seminary. I have had the opportunity to work in and gain knowledge from a diverse collection of settings that include elementary, middle and high school, hospital chaplaincy department, private practice and private agency working with families in the child welfare system. Each of these settings have provided me with hands on experience working with individuals and families in crisis, as well as those who are faced with navigating some of life’s challenges such as divorce, loss, and addiction.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I love a systems approach, understanding that we do not exist in a vacuum, but rather are part of larger systems. I take a non-judgmental, warm approach to therapy and I believe in tailoring my therapy towards my clients individual needs. Together we will establish goals and design a path towards a healthier way of being. I draw from a multitude of therapeutic techniques that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solutions Focused Therapy.
The first step towards seeking help is often the most difficult. I am excited that you are here and look forward to taking this journey along side you.

Melissa is very sweet and makes opening up to her easy. I feel like she creates a safe space for me to express myself and then offers advice. She’s very responsive to messages I send and answers back in a timely manner. I am glad I was matched with her for this experience.
Melissa is professional, kind, asks the questions I need to have better insight.
Melissa has a very soothing and kind voice. This is something I look for in a wonderful therapist! I’m so happy to be meeting with her. She is very non-judgemental and helpful.
Melissa is just so down to earth and comfortable to talk to. I feel as though she listens to my concerns or craziness in my life and helps me work through them without being condescending or rude. Even when I put myself through the same hurt over and over. She helps me work through that and I’m really just starting to feel like I’ve got the control back on my emotional health and mental health and she supports me 100%!
I absolutely love Melissa. She is so helpful and understanding but challenges me where I need it. I could not be happier with her.
Very nice and understanding, thank you!
She made me feel as if there was no judgment or pressure. Ky biggest concern was that I'd end up being told to leave my relationship, versus ways to work on it. She never once said to leave, and instead gave me helpful advice on managing my current relationship in healthy ways.
Realistic and experienced therapist with a thoughtful and attentive approach.
Melissa Mendez has been so helpful throughout my mental health journey. I’ve been to therapy on and off for years, and this time I actually see changes in myself, even if the process is very gradual. Melissa has been helping me find myself & getting me on my way to who I want to be. I can’t say enough positive things about her. It’s obvious how much she cares & only wants you to succeed.
She's understanding and insightful
Melissa—Thank you for being a good listener and helping me thru the path of obstacles...truly a life saver.
She helped me so much and I am so grateful that I got to know her.
She is awesome and explains it in a way where I can understand.
Great at identifying ways to help.
Melissa is the first therapist I've spent the time and money to get to know. She is very kind, as a cheerful voice and an energy that helps to make me comfortable talking with her. I highly recommend. Thank you, Melissa, for all your help.
Melissa has been absolutely awesome.
Thanks for all of your solid help
Very helpful and understanding. Great listener.
Melissa has helped me tremendously already. I feel more confident in her and myself every time we talk.
