About Me

Hi, I'm Mia and I'm so glad you're here. I believe that mental wellness is attainable for everyone who is willing to do the work. Like cultivating a beautiful garden, although the work can be difficult and sometimes messy, the results are beautiful and miraculous. Through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with the foundation of Positive and Self Psychology we will take a closer look at your beliefs, behaviors, and experiences with the goal of increasing health and getting rid of those that are no longer serving you. It is my philosophy that as we learn new skills (coping, healing, self care), how to apply those new skills, and practice new skills, we will begin to manifest the experiences that bring joy into our lives.

I also believe that behavioral health and mental wellness are rooted in how we are developing within the context of our relationships. I recognize that every interaction we have, whether within our own thoughts and feelings or with another person, is a chance to live up to our best Self  or to recede into more comfortable, dysfunctional behaviors. In choosing me as your provider you are making a commitment to not only yourself but to those around you  to find the best in yourself and bring out the best in others.

I've been working with Mia for a couple of weeks now and she has made a profound difference on my mental health and overall wellness. Mia has changed my life.

A few months ago, when I started with Mia, I was really struggling. From the very beginning, she connected with what I had to say on a deep level - I felt completely heard and valued. She gave me beautiful tools to regain self-trust and to rebuild my life from the inside out.

So much of my life has changed under her guidance - she's even positively impacted elements I thought were already fine. Mia's focus on nurishing the soul and living through love has made my entire reality shine with a joy and luminosity that I've lacked my entire life up until now. To say that she helped me is an egregious understatement. Mia's guidance has allowed me to rediscover myself and to live my life with a glowing, fresh perspective.

Mia is a wonderful counselor. She's able to juggle the variety of problems that have occurred in my life, and helped me see some of the root problems. My issues focused more on anxiety and family conflict which she has really helped me handle. She provides great worksheets and is very easy to talk to. I highly recommend using her!

Talking to Mia has been really great. She gives good advice and is caring and compassionate. Her reply times are good, especially since I have never tried the "Mark as Urgent" button, but even without it, she's always replied within the same day without problems.
She's helped me deal with my problems by using comparsions, both from personal experience stories and a more scientifical perspective, but she has also been understanding and seems like she genuinely cares about my problems.
I definitely recommend her as a therapist!

Mia has been exceptional in our communications with each other. My relationship with my partner is the best it's ever been thanks to her support with me. Mia Garret is exceptional; a complete credit to the BetterHelp community. I have never worked through my personal issues via counseling before, so this has been a completely novel and somewhat scary journey for me, but Mia has held my (virtual) hand every step of the way. She is calm, compassionate, positive and most importantly - real! It's almost been as if talking to a friend; I have felt so comfortable talking to Mia about things that I quite frankly have never explored before. Mia's listened to everything I've shared and given me a range of strategies and exercises for healing that are personal, workable and tailored to me. She has responded quickly and has checked in with me at points to let me know she's there.
