Michael McCuddy, LCSW
About me
Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Kentucky. I am proud to call Kentucky home and have lived here for most of my life. I served 4 years in the United States Army and returned to Kentucky where I currently reside with my family. I enjoy spending time with family and friends and find peace in the outdoors.
I consider myself to be a life-long learner of clinical practice. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees from the University of Kentucky (UK). During my time at UK I engaged in independent research on military transition from active duty to college achieving publication in my work.
My current and past practice experience includes:
5 years as a mental health clinician with the federal government.
1 year as a clinical supervisor in a substance use/addictions specialty clinic.
1 year as a clinical social worker serving in a state acute psychiatric hospital.
4 years in the United States Army with 1 deployment serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
My areas of specialized practice include: anxiety, depression, PTSD (military/combat, accidental, and sexual), moral injury, grief counseling, addictions (substance abuse, sex/pornography, gambling), men’s issues, self-esteem, relationship challenges, parenting and family challenges, therapeutic coaching/motivation, self-esteem, sleep, adjustment challenges with major life events, crisis management, and suicide prevention.
I believe in the value of the therapeutic relationship with those that I serve. Trust and authenticity are essential in paving the way for change in our lives. I use a person-centered and humanistic approach in assisting those I serve with developing life changing achievable goals. I like to utilize various methods of cognitive behavioral and solution-focused therapies to assist in meeting those goals. I believe in every individual’s abilities to develop insight and perception change regarding their life challenges. I am trained and certified in various therapies including: Cognitive Processing Therapy for Trauma, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Substance Use and Sleep.
I look forward to guiding you in your journey to achieving your best self!
