About me

Hello, I’m Michele D'Angelo. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of New York, and I have been working in the mental health field for the past 10 years. In that time, I have gained experience working with clients struggling with a wide range of issues including: depression, anxiety, anger issues, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, low self-esteem, behavior issues, social skills deficits, as well as addiction and substance use issues.

Throughout all of my experience, I have developed excellent clinical skills and pride myself on my expertise. I feel most comfortable utilizing a number of theoretical approaches based on what the client brings to the session. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. I most often incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy principles, motivational interviewing, harm reduction, systems theory, attachment theory, and a client centered approach. In older youth and adults I focus a lot on processing and meeting the client where they are at in the session. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

It takes courage to seek guidance for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you.

Michele is an understanding and supportive therapist. She’s given me so many helpful tools to guide me when I’m feeling anxious and overwhelmed. She’s quick to respond and flexible. I’m very happy with Michele!

Michele is a kind, attentive and open minded individual. I feel so comfortable and respected in all of our sessions. I live an alternative lifestyle and it’s been hard to find a therapist that speaks to who I am as a person and I finally found that in Michele. Happy every day that I found her.

Michele listens to me without judgment or condescension. She is always helpful and comforting, and leads me to confronting my issues and resolving them without being pushy. I feel comfortable confiding in her.

I have been talking to Michele for a few months now and it's been great. At first I was awkward with the whole online counseling but she is easy to talk to so it didn't take me long to acclimate. From time to time she points out things to consider from what I say -- that's been very helpful. I know I'm in a long haul but I am feeling very comfortable. Highly recommended.

I started using BetterHelp about 6 weeks ago or maybe a little more. I was paired with Michele. I really enjoy my conversations with Michele. She doesn’t push the traditional CBT etc. & yet she doesn’t “tell it like it is.” She’s always on my side and responds to me every night which for someone like me whose mind is always going, it’s nice to look forward to a response from Michele. She’s awesome.
