About me

Hello, my name is Michele Fischer, MSW, LISW-S. I specialize in CBT, and Psychotherapy for Depression, Anxiety Disorders, and Posttraumatic Stress DO

Life can be difficult, especially when going through change. So many things can impact our wellbeing. I would like to help guide your mental health journey so you can learn how to more successfully manage the challenges life throws at you. I can help you express and understand their emotions, while also assisting you to identify your values. Together we can lay everything out, organize what really matters according to your values, and then make a plan for behavioral and thought changes that will help you to experience healing, growth, and fuller happiness in your life.

I work from the understanding that often these issues are the result of a person’s inner-self doing the best you can to deal with life experiences—to adapt, survive, and prevent you from ever getting hurt again. In my therapy practice, I try to give justice to a person's true nature, seeing beyond the layers of protection, no matter how self-destructive or hurtful to others an individual has been, to where there is a loveable and vulnerable person at the very core. Many of our extreme beliefs, feelings, and behaviors are maintained because we have, in an effort to survive, avoided the painful wounds and burdens that lurk beneath.

I often use cognitive therapy to guide people through the issues they are facing, and help them to see things through a different lens. You will regain a sense of empowerment, and together, we can break down the barriers you feel in life. I work to empower you, and maintain the belief that people have the capacity for change and are equipped with the inner resources to change. I want everyone to contribute to their own healing and well-being. I want to work in collaboration with you as my client, because I trust that people to know themselves (or have the potential to know themselves) better than anyone else, working collaboratively without pushing, without pathologizing, and without retraumatizing.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship, or the ongoing human-to-human connection provides the foundation for change. The therapeutic relationship is the safe container, with unconditional positive regard, that allows one to more fully and completely safe to express who and what they really feel. My Eclectic approach allows me to utilize a variety of therapeutic strategies to help my clients go as deep as they need to in order to experience healing. "Therapy can also leads toward self-awareness, growth, and the release of extreme feelings, energies, and beliefs.

I have spent countless hours studying this trade, doing my own inner work, mastering our technique, and learning to "be" with the people who seek my services. Prior to private practice, I worked with many populations. I have been licensed in Social Work since 1988. I worked with Elderly clients for 7 years, helping them with adjustments to the changes of aging. I worked with adults and families for 8 years, helping them with Depressive, PTSD, and Anxiety Disorders. I have also worked with foster children, and Hispanic families for 7 years. Again with children I worked mainly helping with Depression, Anxiety, and PTSD. I lived in Bolivia, South American with my husband and three children for a total of 10 years. I graduated Cum Laude from Kentucky Christian University with a BS in Psychology; and later from The Ohio State University with a Masters in Social Work.

Michelle is so caring and has truly gone above and beyond my expectations. She has given me so many tools and resources to help me work through my anxiety, as well as work on my relationships with family, and even work on my spiritual health too. I couldn’t ask for a better therapist.
