About me

Hi Thanks so much for considering me as your partner in your mental health journey. I am a Clinical Mental Health Counselor licensed in Vermont. I am also an alcohol and drug counselor and am happy to treat co-occurring disorders . I have 20 years experience working in the field. I work with adults, specializing in depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma as well as with issues with communication, confidence, identity issues, relationship issues, substance use issues and concerns about aging.

My approach is to meet my patients where they are and to walk with them to where they would like to be. We work together to develop skills and habits that allow for a better quality of life.
My belief is that most of us, as children, adapt to our surroundings in order to survive the dynamics of our family of origin. These adaptations are effective in helping our childhood-brain navigate the complexities of childhood. They are not, however, effective in helping us to manage our adult world. Our childhood adaptations--now habits--can interfere in our ability to have stable relationships when we leave our family of origin and begin to interact with others as an adult.

My primary therapeutic treatment approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Internal Family Systems. I feel as though a strong Cognitive Behavioral approach to the brain, coupled with a Rogerian approach to the patient, is what works best for the people I have worked with. With Internal Family Systems Therapy and the idea of "There are no Bad Parts," we are able to recognize that those parts of us that may be reactive or guarded or isolative are protecting a part of us that was injued somewhere along the way. There is a process to bring these parts back to "Self." This process can quiet negative self-talk, can ease jealousies and insecurities and bring more energy back to the true Self. I am happy to support as my patients engage in this brave process.

I have an undergraduate degree in World Literature and a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in substance use. I am dually licensed in the state of Vermont with an LCMHC and LADC.
I work full-time on BH and work weekends and evenings to accommodate patient needs. I have lived in Vermont since 2nd grade. My girls were born here and have ventured to other parts of the country. My dog Winnie keeps me company as to my cats Riley and Little Brown Bat (don't ask).

Michele has been a brilliant support system in ways I didn't think were possible. She has a way of seeing past my explanations into exactly what I'm feeling, and more so WHY, even when I have a hard time voicing it. She asks the right questions and gives me encouragements and advice exactly where I need it. Where some help has been forced on me, Michele has been a WELCOMED part of my journey. I could not recommend her more!
