About me

My name is Michelle Cook and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over fifteen years of experience providing therapy and life coaching services. What brought me to this profession was my own journey of self discovery and the belief that through challenge can come great opportunity.

I have experience in multiple therapeutic settings including private practice, residential treatment as well as inpatient and outpatient treatment. My strengths are working with clients affected by life transitions, anxiety, relationship conflict, depression, career challenges, substance abuse and trauma.

In my work, I am a proponent of leaning into vulnerability and discomfort. This requires stepping into the “messiness” with clients and working together to craft a new path. My approach to therapy is very client centered. Examining the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviors, a modality known as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), is a powerful tool I use to help client discover patterns that keep them stuck.

I draw upon CBT as well as positive psychology, solution focused therapy and strength based modalities to guide clients in identifying and developing treatment plans that work towards actionable change. I also support clients in cultivating greater self awareness, emotional regulation, purpose discovery, mindfulness techniques and stress management.

Outside of my role as a therapist, I am a wife, mother of three and an avid connoisseur of all things outdoors. I am an enthusiastic mountain biker and both race and coach in my free time. I love delicious meals, real conversations with friends and morning cuddles from my dog.

Change can be challenging, but partnering with a therapist who supports you and holds you accountable can lead to deep personal growth. I am passionate about supporting individuals to make meaningful changes and live a more purpose-filled life. I look forward to working with you!

Michelle has been a phenomenal resource during a very complicated time in both my professional and personal life. She has provided in-depth guidance while navigating a significant career change, while also helping me to cope with the challenges of raising a teenage daughter in the middle of a global pandemic. She is incredibly thoughtful, responsive and brings deep knowledge across a wide variety of matters. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone!
