About me

I am registered with the BACP, and I have 8 years in clinical practice, including over three years in private practice, based in Wilmslow, Cheshire, UK. I am a person-centred counsellor, integrative psychotherapist, and self regulating coach-consultant. I work with adults, providing trauma informed counselling and integrative psychotherapy,

Adult clients
I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and abuse. With a specialism in neuropsychology, I offer a personalised approach to integrating a variety of therapeutic modalities, as no one therapy fits all, and you are unique (Polyvagal, somatic, and trauma-informed therapy, ACT, and Mindfulness).

I believe that you are the expert of your mind and body and that you have many strengths that will assist you during your therapeutic journey. To heal from life's challenges and adverse experiences, it takes courage to seek out a therapeutic path with a therapist who can guide you on this journey. I have the commitment, expertise, and most importantly a non-judgemental and accepting manner, to ensure you and I can work effectively together.

In our journey we bring with us our childhood experiences and entering adulthood seeking therapeutic insight into improving relationship issues, finding direction and purpose in life, such as our self identity, career and partner choices. And through our journey we adapt to the stresses of life as well as the joys, but at times it can be overwhelming with the transition into family life, children, marriage and divorce contexts.
Fast forward and how did we get here so quickly, transitions and our journey with aging, health issues, loss and crossroad decisions. What ever you bring to our sessions, I provide a non judgemental and accepting lens and a toolkit of new insights into self, your relationships and your place in the world. Together we equip your mind and body, with skills and techniques that move you forward in your daily life with clarity, a calm mind and an energised body to live a more fulfilling life.

Coach-consultant,
I work with entrepreneurs, and remote home-based business owners who are struggling with work-life balance, and executives transitioning phases of their personal and professional development.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Michelle Courtney. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Michelle has been a wonderful therapist for me. So far I have had three sessions and I have already learned so many things about myself that I would never have guessed or realised independently. Michelle has also helped me to see a variety of ways that this knowledge and understanding can be used to improve my circumstances and work through the difficulties I have in my head.
Our sessions are always relaxed and comforting, and as a result I always feel calm at the end of them. Being matched with Michelle has been a revelation in my mental health.

Michelle guides the sessions with a natural ease, like talking to a good friend who happens to also be extremely intellectual, educated, and curious to continue learning more in exactly the way that benefits you, because it clearly also benefits her and everyone’s lives to know what she does. I feel extremely lucky to have her as my therapist.

I found Michelle very easy to speak and share with. She was very informative and sent me information before sone sessions began so I had an understanding of theories relating to issues we would be discussing. Overall I was very satisfied with our progress
