I am a licensed professional counselor and registered art therapist in Michigan. I graduated from Wayne State University in 2015 and have worked in numerous environments including community clinics, nursing homes, and an inpatient hospital. I have experience working with adults and adolescents in both individual and group settings. Specific areas of experience include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, stress management, and self-esteem.
I believe strongly that the most important aspect of successful therapy is a positive therapeutic relationship. I strive to understand each of my client's values, interests, and perspectives. My main goal is to be a compassionate source of encouragement and support. I recognize that each person is unique and has their own preferences and needs during counseling. For this reason, I seek and value input from clients regarding what they feel works or doesn't for them.
My treatment approach is often a combination of person-centered, strength-based, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. However, I work from a mix of different theories, depending on the needs of the individual. Goals are an important part of any therapy process, and I understand a client's goals may change as we work together. I constantly encourage my clients to examine their progress and take pride in their strengths and accomplishments.
I believe that we often have the answers to our struggles and concerns within ourselves, and simply may need guidance with finding them. My goal is to help my clients navigate through uncertain or difficult times and develop a better understanding of themselves. It takes courage and motivation to seek help, and I am honored to assist and support others in their journeys.
