Mikayla James-Locke, LICSW
About me
As a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Massachusetts, I specialize in supporting individuals– primarily children, adolescents, and families– navigating difficult and oppressive systems. My practice centers on empowering individuals and supporting clients through compassionate, affirming care as they overcome traumatic experiences and behavior difficulties. I support exploration of complex life experiences, personal growth, and emotional well-being. I believe each person deserves respect and dignity, not solely through the lens of trauma, presenting concerns, or diagnosis.
I have extensive experience helping clients address challenges related to self-esteem, communication, stress, and life purpose. My approach is deeply rooted in understanding each person's unique journey. I'm particularly passionate about supporting women's experiences, including work/life dynamics, family relationships, fertility challenges, and transition times such as pregnancy and postpartum periods. I create a supportive environment where clients can explore their identities, identify strategies intended to alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression, develop stronger self-love and resilience; our time together will always be centered around the whole person and a collaborative plan for treatment.
With a trauma-informed and culturally responsive framework, I draw from evidence-based practices to help clients build meaningful strategies for personal growth. Whether you're working through body image concerns, caregiver stress, or seeking greater clarity in your life path, I'm committed to walking alongside you with empathy and genuine support.
