About Me

Hi there! My name is Mimi Akhand and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, with years of work with individuals, couples, and families. I use a strength based, warm but also direct approach. I pull from different models, depending on what my clients’ needs are. My main focus in modalities is cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, solution focused and motivational interviewing.

I cover many areas, including anger management, anxiety, depression, life changes, relationship issues, and trauma. Please feel free to ask if I address your needs.

Life has its ebs and flows. I am here to support and guide you during times of change, as well as when all is stable. I am here to empower you and highlight your strengths so you can grow into your best self. I know how personal the therapy process can be, so I give you so much gratitude for sharing your time and energy with me. I look forward to helping you heal.

Omg. The most sweetest person I’ve ever met. She’s given the best advice and although the time difference is awkward she’s always making time to check up on me and her sessions are always in perfect time. Honestly like a best friend to me :)

Mimi was incredibly supportive through such a difficult time, she responded to messages quickly and was able to do calls and video calls with her on a regular basis which meant alot. She is incredibly warm and caring and felt she was really there for us, and she is really easy to open up to and share things with, I never felt judged, I felt I could say whatever I felt and could speak freely.
