About me

I am a family and marriage counselor licensed in California with over 35 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, sexual addictions, marital counseling and sexual abuse. I also helped many people.

My counseling style is warm and interactive but I am upfront and real. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I believe a good therapist works their way out of a job. What I mean by that is my goal is to empower you to help yourself and to be not only a sounding board but a coach and a support system for you. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, family systems theory, psychodynamic, and motivational interviewing. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
For over 200 years various philosophers, medical professionals and academicians have developed many useful methodologies as tools for use in psychotherapy. Many are based on the knowledge that events in childhood play a strong role in an adult’s attitudes and emotions. Thus, because we are all a product of our families and they are products of their families, my main focus involves Family Systems Therapy, although it’s not the only therapy approach I find useful.
Others include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), attachment theory, humanistic therapy and more.
It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you! You can see more about me if you will go to my website at "The Munn Clinic."

Dr Monica is honestly the best therapist I’ve had in a long time. She’s kind gentle but very real honest yet comforting. I’m so glad I’ve found her.

Written on Aug 13, 2022 after therapy with Monica for 4 weeks on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, and grief
