About me

Hello! My name is Monica and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Virginia. I have over 6 years of experience in the mental health profession. I have worked in a variety of settings to include, residential, outpatient, career, and addictions counseling. Although I have experience working with a wide variety of clients with a broad spectrum of clinical issues I have the most experience working with women who struggle with depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), family/relationship concerns, life transitions, and substance abuse issues.

I am a graduate of Capella University in Minneapolis, MN. I have a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I provide a client-focused, culturally competent approach to counseling with a primary treatment modality grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT's primary focus is on thinking patterns. Simply stated, I believe we can manage our emotions and behaviors, by changing the way we think about our situations.

I would describe my style as warm and supportive, yet, strong and direct. I am ready to assist you overcome any obstacle life sets before you.
