About me

I am a licensed professional counselor in Texas with over 16 years experience. I have a master's degree in psychology from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and extensive doctoral-level coursework with Capella University. I have been licensed in the state of Texas as an LPC for over 13 years and I am board-certified to provide supervision for people working on their licensure.

I have extensive experience working with a wide variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, parenting problems, anger management, relationship issues, and adjustment difficulties. I have had the opportunity to work with persons diagnosed with more serious mental health problems, as well, including Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and Schizophrenia. I have worked with persons with intellectual disabilities and I also have extensive experience with people who have experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse.

I would characterize my counseling style as accepting and practical. I believe that you deserve to be treated with respect and understanding and that we all need help from time to time. I believe that my role as therapist is to help you function more effectively in your life and manage the thoughts and emotions that might be a hindrance for you. My approach combines ideas from humanistic theory, cognitive-behavioral therapy, existential theory, and solution-focused therapy. I believe that counseling is a collaborative process and that you and I will develop a dialog and treatment plan that will help us meet your needs.

You are taking one of the biggest and most difficult steps in self-care; asking for help. I commend you for that because I know how hard it can be. I hope to be a part of your process of healing and self-growth. I look forward to that opportunity.
