About me

Hello and welcome to my page, I hope you are able to find the information that you need from the words to follow. However, if there is something that you need more clarification on please reach out and I will happily explain more.

My name is Nichola and I am a Licensed Humanistic Therapist based in Northern Ireland. What this means is that I create a safe and supportive space where clients will be able to explore themselves and their potential, while ultimately working towards developing their own personal growth - mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

I have worked in the public and support sector my entire life though much of my therapeutic experience predominantly comes from providing mental health and behavioural counselling for young people and adults with a variety of presenting issues such as anxiety depression, stress, burnout, grief and loss, low self-esteem, confidence and motivation, negative thought patterns, and not being able to cope with life changes.

My therapy style and approach draws influence from somatic counselling. This means that I work with the Mind Body and Spirit with various techniques such as EFT (intentional tapping), Mindfulness, Breathwork, HeartMath, NLP etc to support your wider needs as it is my passion is to assist individuals to exceed in all areas of life.

I work alongside my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear and judgment, I build a trusting connection so that you feel heard, validated, respected and valued with a person-centred approach. A top priority for me is to meet you where you are so that we can work collaboratively on a treatment plan to meet your needs and your goals. Whether you are seeking symptom relief, improved function, insight or enlightenment, hope that we can work together to achieve it!

Often life can get too much for us to handle by ourselves and it takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life. Taking those first steps towards a change can be frightening but I am here to support & empower you on that journey and I am grateful you have reached out for guidance at this time.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Nichola McDonald. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Nichola was great to work my issues with. She helped me through by patiently explaining what is going on in our minds as well as newsletters at the end of every session that discusses the issues or solutions that we faced. She managed to pinpoint on what exactly it was that I needed and I feel alot more like myself after going through everything that she suggested. She is great!

I joined better help almost two months ago and Nichola was the therapist I was connected to. She has really helped with my anxiety and has given me valuable techniques to use which has broadened my horizon. She is very knowledgeable in her field and has exposed me to new authors which are having an impact on my overall wellbeing. I am very thankful to Nichola. She is also very empathetic and respectful. She reminds me to be kind to myself and to celebrate my progress. I look forward to our sessions and the weekly newsletter.

This is my first time going to therapy and Nichola is making this experience a great one. Nichola is in my opinion an amazing, very understanding, patient and considerate therapist. She is guiding me on my healing journey and I have learnt a lot of different techniques that are supporting this path so far.

Whether it has been a good week or a bad one, I look forward to speaking with Nichola each time. I appreciate the written recap of our sessions, the practical techniques offered and the journal prompts provided to support reflection. I was hesitant to try online therapy, but Nichola does a great job in her communication style, which has been a very pleasant surprise. I highly recommend her.
