About me

Hello!
I am Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Maine and have worked in the counseling field since 2008. I have extensive experience working with individuals that are coping with anxiety, depression, high levels of stress, trauma, struggling to navigate life choices and transitions, conflict and communication issues, and couples issues. The majority of my work has been with individuals, couples, and families.

I understand that making the choice to seek counseling can be difficult and I am happy you chose to take this important step for yourself! I firmly believe that everyone deserves to feel good about who they are, and I will work with you to empower you to identify and use your strengths. I use a person-centered approach and believe that you are your own best expert.

I believe in building a therapeutic relationship based upon mutual respect, honesty, trust, open communication, and a commitment to doing the work. My style of counseling is to be honest, reflective, and use humor whenever possible and appropriate. I am flexible in how we talk, because I recognize that some people prefer me to ask a lot of questions when they do not know where to start, and others prefer that I just listen.

I am trained in various therapeutic models but most often use an eclectic approach, drawing from many therapeutic skills and models to best meet your needs. These models include:
-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
-Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
-Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
-Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) (In process of certification)
-Solution-Focused Therapy
-Gestalt Therapy
-Motivational Interviewing (MI)
-Relationship counseling to include conflict resolution and communication skills
-Mindfulness

If you choose me for this part of your journey, I look forward to our work together!
