Nicola Willoughby
About me
I am a registered member of the BACP in the UK, and have been working in counselling since 2020. Having trained as an integrative counsellor I am able to adapt my approach to a method that best suits each individual. I believe we are all unique, and one size does not fit all.
During my training I obtained a higher diploma in CBT, a foundation certificate in working with children and teens, and have undertaken additional training in bereavement and loss, domestic abuse, anxiety, anger and emotional regulation. Over the years I have worked with many children who have an ADHD or ASD diagnosis, as well as adults that have been newly diagnosed, helping them see the special qualities they have, their super powers, and how amazing they are.
I believe that you hold the answers to your difficulties, but sometimes they can be hard to see. I hope by us working together we can help you to discover these answers, find your strengths, which will enable you to make any changes that will assist you in overcoming your challenges.

Nicola is kind, considerate and a great listener. Sometimes she leads and offers goals, other times she listens and lets me lead. I would happily recommend her to anybody seeking therapy.

Nicola has been an incredible support throughout my healing journey. From the very first call — where I was overwhelmed, crying, and barely able to speak — she met me with compassion, patience, and genuine care. Over time, our sessions have shifted from tears and fear to moments of relief, confidence, and even laughter. That change is a reflection of her steady, grounding presence.
What makes Nicola truly stand out is the way she balances kindness with practical guidance. She offers thoughtful, informed advice drawn from her years of expertise, always tailored to what I need in the moment. She never judges, never rushes me, and always makes me feel safe to show up exactly as I am. Even on the days I forget to book a session, she checks in gently because she knows how committed I am to my healing ; and she supports that.
I also really value how she gives me practical tools, worksheets, and “homework” that help me keep progressing outside of our video sessions. I love actionable steps, and she always meets that need with helpful, realistic strategies I can use in daily life.
Healing isn’t linear, and Nicola honours that. She lets me take the lead in our sessions, guiding me without ever taking control away from me. I always feel heard, respected, and empowered — and that has made all the difference.
I’m so grateful to have her. Alongside my family and friends, she is part of the most supportive group of people I’ve ever had in my corner.
