About me

Hi my name is Nikki Goodenough. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Colorado and Connecticut.
I'm a compassionate and creative counselor whose passion is helping people become happier and healthier. My work in the helping professions has spanned almost three decades.
I view the therapy process as a working partnership between the therapist and the client – you and me. We explore your needs, desires, strengths and stumbling blocks; then we establish goals together and create a road map that enables you to track your progress toward them.
My toolbox is full of many tools and because you are unique, I will use the tools that best fit your needs. Some are practical tools like cognitive behavioral exercises where you learn new ways of experiencing and responding to events.
We will blend in techniques of mindfulness and body awareness. These are real and effective tools to calm your mind and emotions and to resolve conflicts both inside yourself and in relationships with others.
I want to help you to identify your strengths and build on them as we work toward solutions to your problems and let’s not forget to laugh along the way.
I have had the privilege of helping folks who are dealing with depression, PTSD, stress and anxiety, ordinary life transitions, as well as, life traumas, sexual abuse, loss and adjustment issues.
I help folks build their confidence and create satisfying, successful relationships at work and with their intimate partners. I have provided counseling to individuals and families facing end of life, death, grief, bereavement and caregiver support.
It sounds like a lot but in the 25+ years I have worked in this field I have journeyed with many different people dealing with a variety of challenges in their lives. I love it and I Know there are always solutions!

Nikki is an incredible counselor! She is genuine, caring, encouraging and ever-so-kind. She really listens and ask great probing questions to help pull away the layers but by bi. I love this because it doesn’t seem overwhelming. Also, she encourages weekly video meetings, which helps build the relationship. She has helped me a lot in the 8 months I have been seeing her. I just love Nikki! She is a Godsend!

Nikki is a strong counsellor.
I have been seeing Nikki for roughly 18 months and plan to continue working with her for much longer. With each session i am continuing to evolve into the person I know I am, and living life with self-love, boundaries, and ease!

Nikki helped me get through a time of crisis after a big life event, helped me to process past trauma, and gave me insights about myself which have allowed me to grow. She is experienced and extremely caring. I would especially recommend her to those in a vulnerable place or who need help grounding.

I love Nikki! One word that would describe her is MAGNIFICENT. She’s amazing, caring, a great supportive counselor!Nikki has helped me with my past traumas as well as current life events and has gotten me so far. I honestly didn’t know I would feel so great, healthy, and happy as quick as I have. Nikki has helped me to understand, process, and react to situations as well as how other react differently to these situations and that they also struggle/deal with them in their own way. I’m very grateful to have found her!

Nikki is a wonderful counselor! She has helped me manage my stress, develop better relationships with my loved ones, and learn to set healthy boundaries. After each session with Nikki, I have felt heard, encouraged, and hopeful. This is the best I've felt in a really long time and I am truly grateful for the work I've been able to do with her.
