About Me

Hi, my name is Jeanie. (legal name Norma Jean, but I’ve always gone by Jeanie) I have a master’s degree in social work. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have been working in the social work field for 30 years but as a LCSW for 18 years.

I have experience working with adults of all ages on issues ranging from depression, anxiety, addiction, anger management, trauma, grief, and many more. I have also spent 18 years working part time with parents who have children with either a disability or a developmental delay. We have worked on the anxiety, depression, guilt and grief among other topics as it has been relevant and needed.

I love working with individuals to help them make changes in their lives. Life does come with unexpected challenges and how we react and work through those challenges can often be overwhelming and we sometimes need assistance. Reaching out can be overwhelming. I have a passion for helping others meet those challenges and making changes. Feeling like someone is actually listening to you and focusing on you is so important, especially in today's world. As a therapist, I focus on each person’s specific needs and I adjust my style accordingly. I want to meet you where you are at and work on the goals you have in mind. I tend to draw from solution focused, strengths based and cognitive behavioral areas in order to help folks problem solve things that are going on currently and in the past. I also believe in setting goals, and developing homework with the client that will help the client be accountable and responsible for their own change process. This has worked well for my client’s and outcomes have been positive.

I look forward to working with you!

I have been pretty lost this last year. I lost a lot of weight and lost my self and who I was in the process of it all. I needed help seeing that I was a lot more than what I still saw in the mirror. I truly believe counseling has helped me see my worth. And I will continue to work on finding myself and making the most of life no matter what the path looks like!

Very helpful and thoughtful.

It took me 3 therapists in one week to find Norma and I couldn't be happier. She really cares about my well being and progress and she even takes time out of her days to message me to check in and see how I'm doing when she knows I have big news coming that might be difficult for me to deal with. She gives me exactly what I need - no more, no less. In four short weeks, Norma has made a major impact on how I live my life. Thank you, Norma!!

Norma is a great counselor and listener. She takes time to hear what you have to say and gives good feedback and asks relevant questions. She also provides you tools to assist you in your particular situation.

Norma has been extremely helpful in the short time I’ve been speaking with her. She offers me multiple ways of communication and coping mechanisms, as well as being promptly responsive - even when I message in the middle of the night. Her explanations and worksheets help me understand myself and my problems better than I ever could on my own. I am extremely grateful for Norma and for Better Help as a whole. Being able to reach out at any point in the day, as well as being able to do so from my phone is incredibly helpful!
