About me

Olga is a new addition to BetterHelp working out of Dallas, Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is also one amongst 9 Latina Therapists at her Group Practice with Therapy Works Counseling Services in Dallas, Texas (including Frisco and Ft. Worth). She has served as a Clinical Supervisor for Utah's Juvenile Justice Services and Program Administrator for Utah’s Juvenile Competence Attainment Provider Program. She also had her own private practice in the downtown Salt Lake City Area. She is licensed in both Utah (CMHC) and Texas (LPC, MC). Olga has extensive experience as a therapist for Saibara-Cook Psychological Services, 4TheYouth, Family Counseling Services and Utah’s Department of Juvenile Justice Services (JJS). As a therapist with JJS she was a part of Gemstone Residential, Genesis Day Skills Intervention and In-Home Observation and Assessment. Olga has been able to work with both youth and their families in order to better assist youth as they transition back home and back into their communities. Olga has also held diverse positions in law enforcement, in different capacities and has extensive experience in dealing with both victims and offenders (both juvenile and adult) involved with the criminal justice system. Olga’s encompassing training, personal and professional experiences make her an asset as a mental health counselor and educator as she has helped individuals shine light in their darkest moments of life. Olga has also served as a Forensic Interviewer for children while working as a police detective with Crimes Against Children for the El Paso Police Department in El Paso, Texas. Olga has interviewed over 1000+ children (victims, witnesses, and accused) of abuse during the time she worked as a detective for this unit. She has also interviewed both children/adolescent and adult offenders on these cases. She has helped victims (both children and adults) of sexual assaults, home invasions, kidnappings, human trafficking, aggravated assaults, homicides, suicides and much more while working also as a Detective for Crimes Against Persons/Homicide Unit in El Paso, Texas. She has had the pleasure of working with different government agencies in order to apprehend offenders and help victims find justice. In addition to her law enforcement background, Olga was also a Middle School Gifted and Talented teacher and worked with Dyslexic Children as well. Olga obtained her B.A. in Psychology/Minor in Kinesiology from The University of Texas at El Paso in 2001. She obtained a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from University of Phoenix in New Mexico in 2007. She will be working on a Forensics Doctoral Program within the next few years. Olga currently holds a Clinical Mental Health Counselor License in the State of Utah and Licensed Professional Counselor License in Texas. Off the job, Olga has enjoyed teaching Lifespan Human Developmental Psychology, Theories of Personality, General Psychology and Social Psychology at local Community College. She has taught at higher education institutions for approximately six years. For Olga, empowering her clients and students is her “Why”. Olga assists both her clients and students in finding themselves by using an eclectic approach, trauma-informed approach, client centered, evidence-based counseling techniques and educational pedagogy. Olga finds fulfillment in helping others work through past and current issues along with identifying strategies that will help in coping with current hardships. Olga’s background has granted her the ability to work with diversity in whichever community she involves herself with in both clinical and education levels. She believes strongly in the power of positive affirmations/positive psychology and the power of being able to choose better and more positive paths in life.
