About me

Hi, my name is Oliver Harper and I possess a wide range of clinical experiences working within residential settings for adolescents; short term acute care facilities as a clinician and consultant with adults and adolescents; worked in various communities of Metro Atlanta providing in-home therapy and maintained a private practice for 15 years. I graduated with an MS in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University; along with attending Seminary in Atlanta and obtained graduate degrees in Leadership and Apologetics. I also attended business school and worked on Wall Street and have undergraduate and graduate degrees in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. I have specialized and certificate training in REBT, Adlerian Psychology, DBT, and Parenting. I primarily use Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy as my primary treatment modality as it is very effective in reducing stress and anxiety while providing pragmatic tools for effective living. Over my professional, life I have had significant exposure to working with traumatized clients and have learnt interventions to address its impact. I have authored two books. I also incorporate Stoic philosophy as a therapeutic intervention in the service of clients.
My therapeutic skill set provides a compassionate inquiry into the lives of individuals challenged with childhood shadows induced by family dysfunction, trauma, alcoholism, anxiety, perfection tendencies, and an overwhelming need for approval and validation. My clinical training will facilitate clients to connect the dots between then and now and integrate the fragmentation at the root of their maladaptive patterns. I am a lifelong learner and have dedicated my life to being of service;I believe in the innate capacity of individuals and their potential to be their own rescue with guidance and to know that there is something distinct, unique, and specific about each of us and my clinical task is to guide each individual to share that belief.
The therapeutic relationship is a sacred trust and it is a privilege to be a witness to the inner world of others and to support them in their discovery, recovery, and integration of their best self. Allow me to journey with you and I promise to be present with you all the way to a better version of yourself by strengthening your identity capital.

I would like to share a few words about my therapist, Oliver, and the positive impact he has had on my life.
Oliver demonstrates a level of professionalism that immediately builds trust and confidence. From the moment a session begins, he listens with care, patience, and genuine attention. He creates a space where honesty feels safe and where personal growth feels possible.
What makes Oliver especially remarkable is the way he balances professionalism with warmth. Talking with him often feels like speaking with a wise big brother—someone who truly cares, who listens without judgment, and who gently guides rather than pushes. His insight and compassion help me see things more clearly while still honoring my own journey.
Through our conversations, I often leave feeling spiritually nourished, encouraged, and grounded. Oliver has a unique ability to help me reconnect with my own strength and purpose. After our sessions, I feel renewed and eager to go out into the world and dare to be fully myself.
I am grateful for his dedication, wisdom, and the sincere care he brings to his work.

I have been with Oliver for almost four years now, which is the longest relationship I have ever had with any mental health professional.

There is something deeply reassuring about being listened to with both patience and intention. Oliver does not just offer advice; he grounds it in knowledge, in facts, and in an understanding of who I am as a person. He adapts the way he explains things to what resonates with me, which has made me feel genuinely understood rather than simply treated.

His intelligence and experience are evident in every conversation, yet he carries them with warmth, flexibility, and compassion. I have always felt supported by him in my many endeavours.

I am truly grateful to be one of Oliver’s patients, and I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone seeking thoughtful and trustworthy care.

Oliver is amazing. Of the therapists I’ve had in my life time, he is one of the two who I feel have offered more than the sum of their sessions. Such a wealth of knowledge and insight, I can say i’ve grown not just through the conversations we have had but by the incredible literature he has recommended as well. He’s turned me on to books I’d have otherwise never crossed paths with that have not just changed my course, but the course of my family’s lives as well.

Oliver is amazing, thoughtful, kind, compassionate and wise. He is a master teacher, healer as well as a therapist. I honestly believe he is the single most effective therapist I've had in the last 20 years.
