About me

HELLO THERE! I’m Pamela Looney, a Licensed psychotherapist (LPC). I hold a Master of Science in clinical mental health and have extensive psychotherapy and behavioral health rehabilitation experience in the outpatient clinical setting (mental health assessment and clinical diagnosis, treatment plan development, skills training / psychoeducation services, and psychotherapy counseling in the treatment of both, clinical mental health disorders and short term / situational life stress)

Being a therapist is more than just a career for me. My work in mental health with regard to mental health treatment, raising awareness / erasing stigma, educating others, staying up-to-date on the latest scientific research, utilizing new findings in the field of interpersonal neurobiology & relational neuroscience in my therapy practices, and empowering the clients I work with to take charge of their wellness and mental health, are things I am truly PASSIONATE about……..

I am committed to helping my clients therapeutically, not just in their current situation, but also in equipping my clients with resources, knowledge, skills and tools they can utilize throughout their life for sustainable long-term wellness.

I always say that: “MY JOB IS TO WORK MYSELF OUT OF A JOB”….….. I strive to do this by utilizing scientifically research backed, evidence based therapeutic approaches with the incorporation / application of the science of interpersonal neurobiology as well as holistic, strengths based, and spiritual aspects of wellness, in a treatment plan tailored to meet the specific needs of each client I work with, for the best possible short-term AND long-term positive outcomes.
(Note: I work hard for my clients, so expect them to work hard for themselves as well……. In addition to scheduled therapy sessions, I also utilize journal work, psychoeducation, and therapy homework / worksheets that I assign to my clients to work on between sessions to get the most efficient and effective progress in their therapy)

Some of the primary areas I work in and am most knowledgeable and passionate about, include:
stress and anxiety disorders (including generalized anxiety disorder, panic attacks, OCD, phobias, etc) - Trauma (PTSD, childhood trauma, complex trauma & attachment trauma) - depression (including suicidal ideation and self-harm) - parenting & family issues (parent / child conflict, family communication, attachment work, foster / adoptive parent psychoeducation, and parent education in child development / neurodevelopment, interpersonal neurobiology, relational neuroscience and more).—————————————————————————————————————-
Taking the first sep in seeking help and entering therapy often takes a lot of courage, especially for those that are completely new to therapy…..
I am here to help and will do everything I can to make these first beginning steps and the ongoing therapeutic process as effective, transparent, and smooth as possible - I work with my clients to create an open, safe, collaborative and comfortable therapeutic relationship and setting where thoughts, feelings, and questions can always be shared without fear of judgement.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Pamela Looney, MS. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Pamela has been supportive and offered many different solutions and techniques for me over the last several months. It has been a slow and steady process, which is exactly how I feel lasting results are built.
