About Me

I am a licenced professional counselor in Virginia and Connecticut, currently residing in New York. With over 8 years of experience working as a counselor and life coach, I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, substance concerns, family/relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, and more specific diagnoses like autism-spectrum disorders and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced trauma or abuse.

My counseling style is laid back and tailored to the person I'm working with. I believe in unconditional positive regard, humor, and bringing out the potential that already exists within you. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, and family-systems counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Paul is a patient listener and a very experienced counselor. I felt understood regarding my problems in a variety of areas, such as ADHD, taking care of my health, religious upbringing, existential crisis, and understanding my own mind. I'm grateful for the many useful insights and interesting conversations we've had during our sessions.

Words can't describe really, how helpful Paul has been. His approach and persona in general is easy to absorb. He has provided me with tools that are aiding me overcome my emotional collapse- Giving me motivation to face the challenges, that we're becoming destructive within my mindset. Paul is attentive, patient, empathetic, skilled and relevant with knowledge during our sessions. Honestly the best investment I have made by far, thank you.

Paul is helping me through depression, anxiety and a serious drinking problem. I'm a complicated person and Paul has taken the time to get to know me and know my struggles. He empathizes with me and I'm truly grateful for his insight. He is just a great counsellor all around and even though I've just started to work with him I'm confident that he can help me.

For way too many years I've lived with no self esteem, depression, and unhealthy ways to try to escape from that. A few session with dr. Dearman and I am already noticing progress. He's extremely kind, sensitive, he really cares, he can identify the issue very quickly and work with the patient on a solution that is best tailored for them. I wish I had done this 10 years ago. Registering to BetterHelp was one of the best investments of time and money I've ever done, and I feel absolutely blessed to have been assigned to dr. Dearman. 13/10 recommended!

Paul is great. Creating a therapeutic relationship is hard at best for me. But Paul makes talking and processing a positive experience. Due to how much I enjoy my sessions, or the videos or the messages that are exchanged - I feel empowered and feel excited to get back on track - so I have recommended this service to anyone who will listen to me.
