About Me
First of all, let me thank you for stepping out and seeking assistance for your emotional and mental health needs! It is okay not to be okay, and it is okay to see help. You may not be aware, but according to John Hopkin's Medical, approximately 26% of adults over the age of 18 suffer from a diagnosable mental health condition-that is 1 out of every 4 people. You are not alone in your struggle!
My approach to therapy is eclectic and I make every effort to fit the therapeutic intervention to the individual. My primary theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but I also utilize Person Centered and Solution Focused Therapy. I have engaged in extension training in trauma and hold a certification in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I have been trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and hold a National Counselor Certification (NCC).
I see each person as an individual, not someone with a mental illness and will treat you as such. I truly believe that we have all had times in our lives where we felt broken, hurt, lost or alone. My goal is to assist each of the individuals that I have the opportunity to work with in navigating their way to happiness and healing as well as creating a brighter future for themselves.
I offer both 30 and 45 minute sessions with a variety of days and times available! I look forward to meeting and working along side you!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Paula Cheney. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Paula is amazing! She makes me feel heard and has helped me work through a lot. She has a calm and loving energy, and I feel very safe talking with her.
Paula has allowed me to quit reaching for medication to deal with my anxiety and made me face the man in the mirror and do really hard work. Paula has been so committed to my health. I honestly trust Paula 199% and feel as though our sessions are as if I'm talking to a friend and not just a therapist. Paula is extremely kind, patient, a great listener, and is extremely sympathetic. I thank God every day that He put Paula in my life as my therapist! She is amazing.
Appreciated her followup diligence in contacting me. Very helpful and I needed the push.
Paula is a wonderful therapist!
Paula is a very thoughtful and caring person. She is always listening first and following up with thought-provoking questions. Not only is she caring and positive during a session but she always made sure to follow up with me through messages. She remembers all the details which is very helpful as you move from session to session. Highly recommended Paula!
Paula truly listens to my concerns and shares her perspectives in a thoughtful, personal, and constructive way.
She empathises well with you and is proactive in checking up on you. She’s direct but not in a way that would make you uncomfortable, but in a practical way where she reveals your options to you.
Paula Cheney has been the most helpful. She is understanding and supportive. Paula does an amazing job at deciphering what is truly wrong in order to help. I am really thankful for Paula.
