I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who helps people understand, manage, cope with and overcome daily-life and life-span difficulties, struggles and challenges. I strongly believe that the suffering of people who reach out for help can be relieved through nonjudgmental, unconditional positive regard and support. I have witnessed many people experience relief from distress and improved quality of life by the use of skills not acquired during upbringing or education. These skills are actually possessed by everyone, but have yet to be discovered and developed through counseling support and collaboration. Reaching out for assistance is a difficult first step to make and takes courage. You have already taken this step by looking to BetterHelp for a client-counselor match, and I look forward to accompanying in your journey.

I cannot say enough about my respect and appreciation for Paula Fields.
From our very first session she armed me with tools and resources to manage what at the time felt like pure mental chaos in my life. Over the past many months, I've been able to incorporate several self-care techniques into my weekly routine, which immediately began reducing some of my reactivity as a parent, and wife. I generally just FEEL more at ease.
I'm getting better at recognizing the need, and even setting some boundaries for myself with loved ones. I consider this to be a work in progress, but am grateful to have an appreciation for the value therein.
One thing I would've regarded as impossible and fruitless because of the unpredictable and ever-changing nature of my daily life was me writing a schedule for myself. I have come to use it as more as a roadmap or simple reminder to the core responsibilities I've assumed. But for anyone that feels out of control, and without the ability to focus, or accomplish the many things they set themselves up for in a day, I can tell you even glancing at it makes it easier to prioritize things in the moments life begins to spin out. Life WILL spin out. How we respond to it is what matters.
And I guess that's what Paula gives me week in and week out. She has helped serve as a regular reminder that we are always in progress, and that's a good thing. What is, is, so the quicker we can accept that which happened around us happened, the sooner we can get onto what's next. Sure, sometimes things need to be addressed, but I think so often we weigh ourselves down with thinking things deserve our time and attention that honestly don't. I'm beginning to ask myself questions in the moment like "how is staying inside of this impacting me?"
I think the ability to recognize something as unhelpful or dysfunctional in the moment is the key to my next steps in personal growth. I'm also dreaming about how this practice can positively influence the person our daughter grows to be, & that's a serious motivator.
It's incredible how much time we spend every day participating in things that are counterproductive to our ultimate health and happiness. I want to participate in things that are productive to my balance and mental wellness. The results have been undeniable. I feel more relaxed in our home, and family. I step out when I need to. I'm functional. I'm OKAY. I have rough days, but I know to not live in the spirit of a hard day. I accept. I move on. I forgive myself. And on those days when I feel like I'm not gonna make it, I read my notes from our sessions, I journal, I meditate, and I know when I talk to Paula on Wednesday, she'll help me get my bearings again... My rock in the sea.

Paula's therapeutic style is exactly what I need. She helps me see where my own thoughts trip me up and offers me ways to reprogram those faulty programs. Her manner is gentle and kind, truthful and sobering. If you are ready to take your life into your own hands, Paula is the guide you need. I've already recommended her on this platform to all my friends who're interested in therapy.
