Peter Meilahn, LPC
About me
I help adults and teens create more calm attention for sleep, focus (including ADHD), anxiety, trauma, autism, or pain with counseling and free or low cost attention and heart rhythm training tools called biofeedback. I tend to work a lot with people who want to be more self directed or self regulated, like entrepreneurs or people in creative fields who tend to get a little too "fuzzy logic". We can just talk about your situation and goals in a collaborative way, or use the tools with a sophisticated brain assessment that helps us look at how your brain balances for calm, anxiety, and attention. It helps us improve the way you create balance. The tools are called biofeedback and can be used while working, studying, watching shows, relaxing, or meditating between sessions.
I have taught tools and techniques for increasing calm attention for creativity and performance, ADHD, healing anxiety, and other things at The University of Minnesota Medical Center, the Minnesota Council for The Gifted and Talented, The Learning Disability Association of MN, and developed a training on biofeedback for the largest health system in Minnesota. I have extensive experience working with diverse populations, including veterans, individuals managing chronic health conditions, and those experiencing social anxiety and panic disorders.
My therapeutic approach is compassionate and tailored to each client's unique needs. I understand the intricate ways mental health intersects with personal experiences, particularly for men, and individuals with attention, anxiety, and autism spectrum conditions. My goal is to create a supportive relationship where clients can explore their challenges, develop effective coping strategies, and work towards meaningful personal growth.
Drawing from evidence-based practices, I help clients build resilience, improve communication skills, and develop practical tools for managing stress, sleep difficulties, and professional transitions. I am committed to walking alongside my clients with respect, understanding, and genuine care.
