I am a Black female school and community based therapist in Maryland with about six years of experience. My pronouns are she/her. I have worked with clients with a range of concerns that include, but are not limited to depression, ADHD, parenting issues, family conflict, behavioral disorders and self esteem issues. I have also worked with young adults for a variety of mental health issues. My target populations include teenagers, adolescents and young and middle aged adults.
My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in providing safe spaces by addressing what the client and/or parent believes is best for them. My approach is person-centered and strengths-based. I also provide a combination of rational-emotive and cognitive behavioral therapy.
If you are ready to take the first step in improving your mind over your matters I am here to help. I applaud you.
I look forward to working with you!

Portia is amazing. She really listens and gives great advice on how to look at things from an outside point of view. She encourages you to be your best and does it in a way that is genuine and so helpful.
Portia is great. She listens. Gives great and applicable feedback, strategies to help me and assignments for the future and shows she cares about my growth during this process.
She understands me well. Such a great help
Portia is so onpoint with the way she can listen then tap into your needs by offering great solutions and tools that are functional. I love her unapologetic girl power, it actually makes me respect her advice even more.
Portia has been the perfect partner for me in my battle against depression and anxiety. She listens well and has provided great tips for changing my negative thought patterns. I appreciate that our conversations are action-based and we always talk through a "homework" before leaving so that I can use the skills we've discussed throughout the rest of my week.
