About me

I am a qualified integrated Therapist and member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) with over 10 years of experience in working therapeutically with adults, adolescents and children. As a mum and a wife, a daughter and granddaughter I am aware that life can feel shaky at times and can make you want to hide. You have shown courage as you feel ready and have made the decision that it is time to return to life and start living it again.

I provide an integrative approach to therapy which brings together different styles of therapy CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Solution Focussed Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamic allowing a tailored approach to meet the needs of the client in there own individual way. Working creatively can be beneficial to Adults, Adolescents and Children allowing you to express emotion that we can keep hidden inside of us or as an adult your inner child.

Confidentiality and trust within a relationship is important and allows you to feel comfortable to be who you are on your journey through therapy without fear of judgement.

As an experienced integrative therapist my role is to support you through your challenges, we are all unique and my therapy approach will be based on your needs. I want you to feel comfortable being who you are and to have the confidence to embrace your life. So often you cannot change the things in your past, or what is happening to you right now. However, you can relate differently to those events, and you can make positive decisions about your future.

The first session is the beginning of your journey where we meet; allowing a relationship of trust to grow. It also the time we gather information that will support you better within your life. Talking about areas in your life that have made the biggest impact upon you; can provide space and a calmness knowing you have said the words out loud.

Working at the pace that feels right for you, I walk the journey with you supporting you through the healing process providing space necessary for you to be; you and know who you are. Growth is part of the therapeutic process; and having a greater understanding of you enables you to make different choices enhancing your life and wellbeing.

What I can help with
Abuse, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Depression, Health related issues, Identity issues, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Redundancy, Self-esteem, Self-harm, Sexuality, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues.

“People think they know you, or think they know who you are, the only person that knows you is you.”
"the only person that can judge is when another person is wearing your shoes; and your in them"

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Rachel Kilburn. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Rachel has been really helpful and understanding of my problems. I appreciate that I can always contact her when problems occur and she will reply quickly. Her explanations of the issues and advice to follow are really helpful in my understanding and resolving of issues. My everyday life has improved significantly since starting therapy and wish I had done it sooner! Thank you very much.

Rachel is so kind, my last experience with therapy a couple years ago wasn't great because I didn't click with that therapist but Rachel is the first one who as asked the right questions, who I've felt comfortable enough to talk about what I need to talk about and not be told off for not trying hard enough because she is so kind and understanding. I left the meeting feeling so much better and it actually lasted a good few days which doesn’t usually happen with me.

Rachel has been an incredible support to me. She is helping me work through my trauma in ways I didn’t even realise I needed — gently guiding me to understand that my childhood experiences had a much bigger impact than I had allowed myself to acknowledge.

She creates such a safe, supportive space that I feel completely comfortable discussing very personal and difficult things. I genuinely find comfort and growing confidence in our sessions.

What means so much is that her support doesn’t feel limited to the therapy room — she takes the time to check in outside of sessions, which makes me feel truly cared for. Just knowing I have her in my corner already gives me strength. I’m so grateful for the work we’re doing together.

As of one session I find Rachel very comfortable to work with. She has been in contact through a very difficult week and I know she’s there when I need her. Thanks Rachel
