My name is Dr. Rachel Kinison. You can call me Rachel or Dr. Rach, as my friends lovingly call me. I have my doctorate degree in Pastoral Community Counseling. I have a masters degree in Counseling. I have been counseling for almost 15 years. I have a few disabilities that I don't let get me down. I have Cerebral Palsy (mild), Dystonia (a movement disorder that is related to Parkinson's), and I suffer from migraines. All of this is managed well with Botox treatments every three months. I live in Illinois and I plan of moving to Florida, where the winters are a lot more milder for me. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois. I am also just recently licensed in the state of Florida as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I am very excited about that. I am a fan of classic rock. I love to spend time with my friends. I also enjoy a nice quiet evening at home with my Basset Hound and Beagle. I also like to travel, cook, and enjoy a great rock concert.
As I've mentioned earlier, I have been a counselor for almost 15 years. I have worked with children and adults at a community counseling agent. I have also worked in a behavioral health unit at a local hospital. I also have experience in being a counselor in adult probation programs. I have done individual therapy, group therapy, and have training in PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and I usually use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, but not everyone fits just one mold. So, I am a fan of an eclectic form of therapy techniques. I am well rehearsed in relaxation techniques that I am excited about.
I am excited to be a part of BetterHealth. I think that I can bring a lot of functioning skills to the table. I believe that how we think, behave, and feel can be improved by just changing one thing to the positive. The rest tends to fall in line. You are the problem solver. I am your compass.

Dr. Kinison is so understanding and her responses to issues or concerns are wonderful.
Rachel is very human and sensitive. Her advice is very pragmatic and situationally based, which really helps
She is the best
Dr Rachel Kinison has got me back on form. I haven't talked about my Mum in years, Dr Kinison got it out of me, I was doing all of there talking about happy memories of my Mum she recognised that.
It has been an absolute pleasure and eye opening experience working with Dr Kinison. She is kind, knowledgeable and has a sense of humor that I actually appreciate. She is always available, patient and keeps you engaged
Dr. Kinison hears my needs and what I need to work on. She offers solutions to my biggest worries as well. I feel hope!
Dr. Kinison asks the right questions and keeps me on track of my goals. I appreciate how she lets me prioritize what I want to talk about while recognizing where we need to spend more time.
The best counselor I've ever had
She has been very attentive. She’s always finding ways to help me work through my thoughts. We have a great connection and I appreciate her input and positivity.
So far, Dr Rachel has been so helpful! I’ve done 3 sessions and she’s helped me see different perspectives every time. I like that she gives me worksheets to do throughout the week to keep what we’ve talked about fresh in my head. It’s homework but I love homework and growth. She listens and has some great example stories that relate to what I’m dealing with.
I adore Dr. Rach. I’m so glad I connected with her!
She’s been so amazing and so helpful. I know I can count on her to respond any time of the day and her words are so encouraging.
I am really grateful that I was matched with Rachel. Rachel is incredibly responsive and I am really grateful that in such a short time we developed a connection. She has really helped me in such a short time and I am looking forward to our continued work together.
Dr. Kinison is kind, compassionate, and caring. She listens... REALLY listens to me, and gives me advice without overstepping. I feel like she actually understands, as opposed to just being sympathetic to my problems. She gets it. She's amazing.
