About Me

Hello my name is Rachel Phillips and I am so glad you found your way here!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas, with 15 years of experience as a psychotherapist working with culturally diverse adults ranging from ages 18-70 and adolescents ages 12-18. I have worked with clients who struggle with various mood disorders, career transition, low self-esteem/poor self-confidence, substance addiction, and self-harming behaviors. I have provided treatment to individuals, couples and families, as well as facilitated groups. I also have history providing Christian Counseling.

Life can be challenging and unpredictable, it sometimes throws curve balls that catch us completely off guard. It is during those times that we all can use extra support in order to overcome these obstacles and barriers. I commend you for realizing your need for external support and taking this all important first step of seeking counseling, although it may be slightly scary and intimidating for you as well as even go against your cultural background.

I have found that therapy works best when we work in partnership together to resolve your issues. You are the expert on your life, it is your job to educate me about your life experiences, your goals and your strengths. It is my job to utilize my professional training and skills as well as years of experience to assist you with facilitating the changes you desire.

My counseling style is one of warmth and unconditional acceptance. All sessions are “judgement-free zones.” I provide service that is client-centered and strength-based in scope. I believe that every human being deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. I am a caring, compassionate therapist who is able to quickly build rapport and provide a safe space in which you are able to heal from life's traumatic experiences, grow internally and develop into the best version of yourself. My treatment approach primarily utilizes cognitive-behavioral therapy. I also use motivational interviewing, existentialism and mindfulness as well as solution-focused counseling.

I can give you the tools to help you learn how to set attainable goals that are measurable. I can help you to learn how to live life intentionally and develop emotional balance that will help you to effectively weather life’s storms. I look forward to going on this journey with you. I would love to help propel you into your destiny!

Rachel has been very responsive to my concerns, offering suggestions and ideas but always respecting my own self-knowledge, never contradicting my thoughts about myself.

I found it really easy to speak with Rachel. She asked me what I wanted to talk about, and the conversation flowed quite comfortably. She reassured me my feelings were important as well as my decisions. Thanks, Rachel!
