About me

Welcome! I am Rae Coley, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Georgia. I graduated from Auburn University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Social Work degree and The University of Alabama in 1996 with a Master of Social Work degree (I claim Auburn, though). I have worked in community healthcare, juvenile justice, and inpatient and outpatient mental healthcare settings for the past 17 years. I am also a certified Special Education teacher. I worked for eight years teaching elementary and high school students in a variety of classroom settings.

Therapy provides an opportunity to gain insight into personal thoughts, beliefs, actions, emotions, and patterns that can lead to growth and acceptance. I believe individuals are resilient and have the intrinsic ability to make and sustain changes that lead to greater personal satisfaction. I am experienced in working with depressive and anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, self injurious behaviors, relationship struggles, family conflict, codependency, trauma, and grief and loss.
I work using a variety of theoretical approaches including Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Imago Relationship Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy. I am dedicated to research based practice and continuing professional development.

I grew up in a suburb of Birmingham, AL and have lived in Fayette County Georgia for the past 20 years. Outside of work, I am interested in learning most anything---especially creative endeavors! I enjoy being outdoors as much as possible: just taking it all in, hiking, Auburn Football games, etc. I am passionate about animal welfare and rescue and share my home with three former shelter dogs and the occasional foster doggie.
