Congratulations! Just by thinking about making a change in your life, your journey to living a fully empowered and authentic life has already begun. You are an expert of yourself and your family. Allow me to step in as an expert in self-development, creating emotional well-being, and achieving optimal mental health. Blending conventional and complimentary approaches, I draw on a variety of styles and techniques to facilitate bridging the gap between where you are and where you desire to be.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Michigan and Texas and have over 19 years of experience. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina State University in 1980 and my Master of Arts degree from Oakland University in 2002. Additionally, I am a certified yoga teacher registered with Yoga Alliance which allows me to draw from the ancient practice and wisdom, which dates back over 4000 years, to help clients move into a balanced emotional, mental, and physical state of equanimity and self-awareness.
I view therapy as a process by which I facilitate my clients in exploration, clarification, and identification of their needs and help them to make changes in behaviors and cognitions. Therapy is a safe place to explore reactions, thoughts, and feelings about people in your life as well as yourself. It allows you the opportunity to practice new ways of interacting and when ready, to try these in other relationships. With an enhanced sense of self-understanding and acceptance, you are able to replace limiting beliefs you have learned and inherited with a new self-empowering perspective and create a breakthrough from surviving to thriving.
I utilize the multi-modal and holistic approach which integrates person-centered, cognitive behavioral, existential, psychodynamic, Gestalt, mindfulness and solution-focused models to meet your specific and unique needs. Relying on research, I integrate an array of therapeutic interventions that will yield optimum results. I work with a wide range of life challenges and psychological issues including mood disorders, anxiety, depression, stress and anger management, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship challenges, addictions, domestic violence, parenting, divorce, crisis intervention, and personality disorders. My clients include families, couples, teens, individuals and groups.
I look forward to working with you!
You are not a drop in the ocean,
you are the entire ocean in a single drop. ~ Rumi ~

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Raj Chehl. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Raj is incredibly well trained and connected well with me during our sessions. I felt her background and expertise allowed her to cater therapy to my particular needs and really help me work my way through several issues.
Like any good therapist there will be no right answer for everyone, but if Raj is right for you, she is transformative, and she's absolutely changed my life in ways I would never have thoughts possible. Thoughtful and open but also aware of when and how we need to balance our thoughts with our emotions, Raj is masterful at pinpointing issues and not just explaining them but offering solutions which are profound and lasting. Her work with me using the IFS system was so incredible as to feel straight out of a movie in the best way. If you think you'll resonate with someone calm, thoughtful and with a great capacity for growth, Raj is a delight, a revelation, a marvelous choice.
Raj listened to everything and has great references for books to listen to to understand deeper about what you are going through. She has helped me immensely through my problems and I feel better for talking to her.
I am so grateful for Raj. Her gentle and supportive approach has helped become aware of myself in beautiful and comforting ways. Raj always has insights that teach me something new about myself and she has helped me to appreciate myself so much more. Thank you Raj.
Raj is a wonderful therapist, friendly and very intuitive. She helped me work through some issues I had over a period of time, and helped me see entirely new perspectives! I am so grateful for her help, and feel like I learned a lot from her. I feel so much better about my issues since I started working with her, she really helped me develop a clarity on a few things that were deeply bothering me and getting me down. Raj is a warm, empathetic and nurturing therapist!
Raj is wonderful!!
I'm so happy that I'm able to discuss my issue with her. Rag is very warm and give me very effective advice which has been helping me enormously. I'm so grateful that I have her support and guidance.
First time in therapy and had weekly sessions with Raj for the past months. She’s very patient and caring. She understood my issues, processed my thoughts and brought me out from the darkest place. Always grateful, and will certainly look for her for future help.
I wasn’t ever a big advocate of Therapy until I had some sessions with Raj. I was able to open up and expose all my scars to Raj and she helped me aid them. She guided me the way out of the dark hole I was in when I started Therapy and she changed my life. I will be sticking to Raj for a very long time.
Raj has helped me through the toughest relationship that I’ve had to deal with. Talking with her has guided me into a healthier route in my life and has made me excited about this new chapter in myself. I feel relief and confidence in where I’m going and the steps I will take to continue to build myself.
Raj was not only highly skilled in her field, she was also intuitively wise, unendingly patient, caring and capable of guiding me through a very dark time in my life. With just a few sessions, I was not only feeling better about my situation but I also was equipped with tools to handle my day to day challenges. She was able to shift my view and understanding of myself and my place in this world. I am forever grateful.
Raj is clearly the best therapist I’ve talked to by far. Her holistic and client-centered approach works wonders for me. I always feel secure and confident to take the reins during therapy because I know Raj is there to guide me. Even when I delved deeper or took sharper turns, Raj knows how to help me understand that it’s part of the journey of finding the answers.
