About me

I am a BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) registered and COSCA (Counselling and Psychotherapy, Scotland) qualified therapist, trained at the University of Edinburgh. I hold international affiliate membership of the APA (American Psychological Association). I offer short-term and long-term therapy to individuals above the age of 18. My practice and process are located within the dialogue of Person-Centered and Psychodynamic frameworks, and are grounded in being trauma-informed, queer-affirmative, and taking into account the psychosocial determinants of mental health. I adhere to the ethical frameworks laid down by COSCA and BACP. I am currently based in Edinburgh, UK and see clients from across the world.

I understand therapy to be a ‘healing conversation’ between the client and the therapist, where we can explore, become aware of and understand our inner perceptual worlds as well as our external environments. It is a space where we connect with different parts of ourselves through a compassionate inquiry and discover our own sense of things. As we all live in and traverse multiple contexts, we learn to hold ourselves together in various ways. Many of the things that happen in our lives are often based on mental processes that we are only faintly aware of. Therapy helps bring our unique processes into clear consciousness by offering a space where we begin to develop the capacity to recognise and acknowledge our journeys and narratives.

As a practitioner, I believe therapy is not limited to relieving psychological distress alone, but also about receiving care for all the vulnerabilities that accompany being a thinking, feeling human. Whatever brings you to therapy is a good starting point for us to tune in and lean into the discomfort, together.

Raushan has helped me greatly, consistently has good insight, a different perspective that I often need and always makes me feel comfortable and safe in our sessions.

Our sessions have been so helpful at giving me clarity, and a neutral person to talk to about what I'm going through. Raushan always remembers what we've discussed the week before, and provides insights that are really helpful, and make me feel heard and supported.
