About me

Welcome! It is my honor and privilege to work as a therapist. I have worked in the field of counseling for 25 years, offering support in the areas of personal development, professional coaching and self-advocacy. My graduate studies were in the area of Cognitive Behavior Therapy and doctoral work in the area of Cultural Diversity and Inclusivity.

Counselor - As a therapist working with individuals, providing a safe space where a client can be open in sharing their story, exploring their life and reflecting on positives and negatives is my goal. I like the term 'naturally therapeutic' as people find the approach supportive, helpful and meaningful. Identification of concerns, development of goals and implementation of new strategies and skills are a helpful sequence for growth. Some counseling modalities supportive of these strategies include Person-Centered Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy

Coach - As a therapist working with individuals, there is often a connection between a clients personal issues and their professional development. This may become a good opportunity to look at professional growth and for development of career goals. Linking these to personal objectives can provide opportunities for generalization of skills into the world of work and positive growth professionally. Additional to other therapies, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Mentalization Based Therapy are helpful tools.

Consultant - Many adults have identified special needs, specifically ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Sensory Processing Disorders, Autism, etc. While they may have developed coping skills and strategies, as one moves into the world of work, relationships and family life, new skills and strategies may be needed. Self- advocacy is an important skill and strategy for higher education and working environments. My work as a special education specialist and advocate can help adults become skilled and empowered into adult circumstances. Some modalities might include those mentioned above or additionally Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Psychological Testing and Evaluation would be useful to consider.
