About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Addition Specialist and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina. I received a Master of Science in Substance Abuse and Clinical Counseling from East Carolina University in 2013. Over the past 9 years, I have worked in a variety of settings with individuals and couples struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, mood disorders, grief, self-esteem issues and relationship issues.

In the counseling process I utilize Person Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I use a person centered approach with the understanding that you know yourself and what you need better than anyone even if you are unaware of this at the present moment. We can work as a team to help you find your answers and help you reach your goals. I often utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in the counseling process. I am a firm believer that our thoughts and beliefs can direct our emotional wellness in a positive or negative direction. In some cases, the thoughts and beliefs we develop throughout life are inaccurate or even irrational. I believe that I can offer assistance in helping a person challenge irrational or automatic, negative thoughts that worsen depression, anxiety and other emotional challenges. I believe we do have the ability to identify, challenge and change thoughts that do not serve us well. We can create healthy and realistic thoughts that promote mental wellness. I truly love sharing this information with people because I have seen it work wonders in both myself and others.

Also, I would like you to know that acceptance is paramount to me. I love working with all types of people. I believe my clients would say I have a warm, accepting and laid back personality. I want people to feel accepted no matter what they say, think or have experienced. I want people to feel they can tell me anything without the fear of judgement. Non-judgement is one of my strengths. It is important to feel you can tell your therapist anything without fear of judgement. You can find that with me.

Please let me know if you have questions about me or think we would work well together.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Rebekah Cahoon. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I'm very glad I started therapy. I feel that Rebekah makes me feel heard, but challenges my thinking in a way that's constructive and still makes me feel supported. I'm feeling more confident in my ability to resolve my issues with anger and I feel like I have a chance to have better relationships with the people I care about.

Rebekah really gets me. I've been seeing her for 2.5 years now but I felt seen and supported by her from the very start. She's taken me through some serious hurdles and helped me overcome so many toxic patterns that I was stuck in. I always feel safe with her, even talking about very triggering traumas, and she celebrates every win with me. I can't recommend her enough!

I have had such a wonderful experience working with Rebekah the past month. She was a great listener, relatable, and provided a variety of helpful tools to help me through my chronic clinical depression and parenting struggles. She tailored our conversations to my exact needs and what I was going through, and provided specific guidance and ideas for each particular challenge that I was facing. 10 out of 10 - she is very knowledgeable and genuine!
