About me

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 8 years of professional experience and more than 15 years in the helping field. My approach to therapy is warm, direct, relational, and human. I believe healing happens best in spaces that feel safe, authentic, and collaborative; not stiff or overly clinical.

I use evidence-based practices such as DBT, CBT, trauma-informed care, and strengths-based approaches. I often use visual tools, metaphors, and real-life examples to help make abstract concepts more understandable and practical. Therapy with me is active and engaged—we don’t just talk about change, we work toward it.

My communication style is conversational and supportive, and I value honest dialogue. I aim to meet clients where they are without judgment, while also gently challenging patterns that no longer serve them. I do not believe in minimizing anyone’s pain or comparing suffering—your experience matters exactly as it is.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

Clients often describe me as:
• Warm and approachable
• Straightforward but compassionate
• Relatable and real
• Supportive but not passive
• Engaged and collaborative

If you’re looking for a therapist who feels human, not robotic—someone who balances professionalism with authenticity—we may be a great fit.

That said, if you prefer a very formal, highly structured, or emotionally distant therapy style, I may not be the best match—and that’s okay. Therapy works best when the fit feels right.

Who I Help

I specialize in working with individuals navigating:
• Trauma and complex trauma
• Anxiety and depression
• Grief and loss
• Self-esteem and identity
• Relationship challenges
• Life transitions
• Substance use and recovery
• Emotional regulation and stress

I also work with clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves and want tools—not just talk.

My Philosophy

I believe healing is not about perfection—it’s about self-understanding, self-compassion, and growth. I value curiosity over judgment, progress over pressure, and connection over performance.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to start therapy. You just need a willingness to show up.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Regina Thompson. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Regina has been such a wonderful resource for my inner healing. She listens to understand and then we make a plan on how to move through those issues. Her warmth and brightness as well as a wealth of experience and education makes her a wonderful therapist. Would highly recommended, especially if you are neurodivergent:)

I absolutely love her! I am even thinking of passing the information on to friends who are in similar mental health concerns as I am with family drama, work stress, and personal exhaustion going on a result. I am thinking I connected better with her then the first therapist who required in person and could only treat me as long as I was in state. Doesn’t work so well when I don’t have a vehicle at this time…. So glad I found someone I connect better with and can trust more

I love connecting with Regina because I feel seen and heard. Her empathy is spot on and it allows for great connectivity in our conversations. She’s able to use her expertise to help guide me yet stays relatable and real. She’s helped me a lot already in only a few sessions! I look forward to more with her.

Regina has a way of engaging that makes you feel like a normal human before she gives you the tools to be a normal human. There is no perpetuation of stigma in the space she holds for you- you are in control and never villainized. She truly believes in her clients and doesn’t just listen- she hears. She is realistic and sets the pace that you need. I am so appreciative of her and her approach. I am grateful I got matched with Regina.
