I am Renée Gaubert, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Louisiana. I have over 6 years of experience providing social work services throughout the Greater New Orleans area, first as a Disaster Housing Case Manager, then as a Domestic Violence Victim Advocate and Counselor, and most recently as a community-based Mental Health Professional before entering private practice.
I grew up in Algiers and have lived in New Orleans most of my life. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with minors in Women's Studies and Spanish from Loyola University New Orleans, and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Tulane School of Social Work. As a graduate student I received clinical training at University of New Orleans Counseling Services, where I provided mental health, academic, and career counseling to university students from all walks of life. I received my LCSW in 2018 from the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners. I am also a certified yoga instructor (RYT200) and dance instructor.
My expertise is in trauma recovery, anxiety, and depression. I have helped clients in every age group presenting with a wide range of issues including ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, bereavement, behavioral problems, and relational problems. I like to use an eclectic approach with my clients, drawing from a variety of treatment modalities to address each individual treatment goal. I typically incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to identify any thought patterns that may be triggering or reinforcing negative feelings and behaviors. We can then work to correct those thought patterns, which will in turn change the feelings and behaviors you engage in response.
My counseling style is client-centered and informed by relational-cultural theory. I recognize the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship and emphasize emphatic understanding in all my communication. I work to provide a comfortable environment for you to freely engage in focused self-exploration, offering non-judgmental feedback and developing your healthy coping skills along the way. I welcome your feedback throughout the course of therapy to ensure that we are making meaningful, sustainable progress toward your personal goals.
I know how much courage it takes to open up to someone new and ask for help, and I would be honored to join you on your journey to well-being.

Ms. Gaubert is professional and yet extremely relatable. She is the fourth therapist I have consulted (the other three were in person, not related to BetterHelp), but the first who has truly helped - not only listening to me (others have done that too), but providing me with tools to reshape my mindset and work positively towards long-term stability and hope.
Renee is attentive and effective at pulling out of me what I need to say out loud. It is still early in our relationship, but I am confident she is a good fit and will be most helpful.
Very easy to talk
