I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Minnesota. I have worked in the mental health field for over 15 years. I am currently taking classes at Capella University as I work on my Doctorate of Social Work. My master's degree is from the University of North Dakota. I have experience with a diverse clientele and a variety of life concerns. Such concerns include depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, PTSD, phobias, OCD and ADHD. I also have extensive experience for those struggling with self-injury and suicidal thoughts. A couple of my passions include those that struggle with the following: Being an introvert or those that would like help understanding your friend or partner that is an introvert and dealing with children you care for (Bio, adoptive or foster) that have mental health or behavioral issues.
My counseling style is warm, calm and interactive, I strongly believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and do not view or treat clients or anyone as a stigmatizing label. My therapeutic approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, and client-centered counseling and I personalize each dialogue and treatment plan to meet clients' particular needs.
Taking that first step to becoming the "best you" is an important one. We all have times we feel misunderstood, lack direction in life or feel that the stress is too much to handle.

Rick has been such a huge help lately. He challenges me to push myself into feeling more and he allows me to go at my own pace too. He's compasionate and determined to work on the things that I want to work on. I am so thankful I found Betterhelp and Rick!
This man got an amazing ear and heart. I went with my intuition, reading is unfit profile for my needs. A good therapist can handle anything. Psychology is complex but how good when someone can make it simple...?
Rick is awesome. I have only had a few sessions with him and he has changed the way i think and handle things. I look forward to my future sessions! I know it's going to do the world of a good and make me a stronger person.
Good at listening, responds when he has time.
Rick has been my counsellor for about a year, and he is by far the best therapist I've ever had. It is obvious that he really cares, and he is very engaged and engaging throughout our sessions (and in between!). I always feel comfortable saying absolutely anything, and I know he'll be in his usual solid, unflappable, helpful mood no matter what kind of mood and energy I bring to a session. He has a good sense of humour which helps to bring lightness to any situation, and he thinks up creative ways for me to tackle problems and reach more helpful thoughts and feelings. He wants me to follow my heart and reach for success, but he doesn't push; I get homework assignments which are always helpful, but I know it's a safe space and he won't mind at all if I haven't fulfilled them by our next session. I'm glad we've been paired up and I look forward to learning and growing more with Rick's help and support.
Rick is the kind of therapist I was dreaming for.
I am grateful to work with him, that i found him on betterhelp.com
As a person, he is very compassionate, encouraging.
Rick responds to my questions with intelligence and simplicity.
But not only, he also has very good tools that help to go from words/thoughts to actions in the daily life.
I feel a lot of support, non-judgment.
He is in the same time very professional and friendly, knowing how and when to use humour.
I had many therapists before in my life and Rick is the one who helps me the best to change concretely.
I also appreciate a lot that he is very responsive.
He clearly takes an authentic care of his patients.
I feel lots of attention, and involvement in his work.
I can tell that he really likes what he does and is truly a humanistic person.
My experience with BetterHelp and Rick Jackson is very good so far. After my first email Rick managed to nail down the core of my problem and show me that we can work on it. He also keeps following up. I found BetterHelp good because it gives you the time to think at your own pace and comfort of your home.
Rick has been great to work with. I appreciate the help he has provided me.
Very empathetic and provides excellent creative and constructive ideas to work on.
Everything is exceeding my expectations thank you
Excellent - easy to talk too and a very positive person. Made me feel at ease straight away, very supportive and gave good advice.
I highly raccomend Rick Jackson, he immediately understands what your problems are and he's really capable of giving you the will to do things to improve yourself. Thank you Rick.
