Making the decision to see a therapist is a very courageous act, and I applaud you for making the choice to seek help. I provide a very relaxed and calming atmosphere where my clients can engage in the work they need to do to effect substantive change in their lives. All of us have a tool shed full of tools which we typically use on a daily basis to cope with day-to-day stress and problems. Sometimes, however, life becomes too much, and when it does, we typically forget about the tools we have, or we lose the entire shed. My job is not to tell you what to do with your life - I do not have to live with your decisions. My job is to remind you of the tools you already have in your shed, and provide even more tools so that you can manage much more effectively and life become less distressing and intimidating. To that end, I will help you identify strategies and skills which work for you. I will help you look at things from a different perspective and may even challenge some of your long held thinking and beliefs. The therapist may be the expert on therapy, but you are the expert on you. I provide the "buffet table" of options, but you use your expertise to pick and choose "what you will eat".

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Robert (Doug) Chalmers. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Robert is quick to respond and gives me a sense of support. He challenges my mindset and though I don’t always agree with him, he gives me a new way to think about things.
I really appreciate Doug, he is knowledgeable, patient and caring. Whenever I am really down all he has to do is say two words and my spirits rise. I thank God for him everyday,
Doug is amazing ! He gets down to the point quickly and helps you decipher through memories and guides you through how to manage those memories. He teaches you alot during therapy sessions. Also, the video recaps after each session are so convenient!
Thank you.
Doug has a knack for tuning out the noise and getting to the crux of the issue.
Once there, helps you identify ways to solve it.
He's very thorough and goes the extra mile, a great listener, easy to work with.
I started sessions with Robert several months ago Back then i felt lost, irritated and couldn't make sense of things .Thankfully i was matched with Robert. From our first session Robert really showed alot of interest and empathy for my issues, He asked the questions i needed to be asked . There is no judgment been made more like encouragement and support . I enjoyed all the sessions and always came away feeling empowered . I will use the tools Robert got me to remember i always had and for that i will always be so grateful . I highly recommend Robert as a therapist and he will definitely help you through your journey. Thank you again Robert for every session, for every question and for every supportive smile .
Kindest regards
Linda Quigley
Doug listens like a concerned friend. His questions go straight to the heart of the matter. He has helped me work through an issue I have been struggling with for nearly 3 years in about 4 sessions. So much gratitude for this incredibly professional and personable therapist.
He was very patient and encouraging.
Great therapist! Extremely professional, open-minded and fille
It has been a absolute pleasure working with Doug. He makes it extremely easy to express yourself in a way that allows you to feel comfortable. The strategies and techniques we went through really did help and I plan to continue using them going forward. Stand up gentleman! Thank you Doug.
I appreciate that he listens to me and offers different ways to look at the situation.
He’s a life saver, deserves all the praise he can get.
I spent several video sessions with Doug and got a lot out of each and every one of them. Doug is an excellent and active listener and a very direct communicator (which I really appreciated). For me, I don't want to be told what anyone thinks I want to hear. I want constructive feedback and tools that can really help me. Doug delivered on both fronts!
As life becomes increasingly complex, it is imperative that we all be able to sort through that complexity, stay true to who we and hold close the people and values that are most important to us. I encourage everyone to seek out therapy if you are struggling and recommend Doug highly as a therapist.
He has been a lot of help! Really took the time to listen to what is the root of all my stress and gave me a lot of helpful tips. He gave me confidence in myself again that I can do this.
Doug thought me so much in little to no time at all, he has helped me get through a chapter in my life and without his wise and funny videos he’d often send, I don’t know where I’d be right now. Even when Doug was on holiday and had said he wouldn’t be taking messages for a few days, he always had the time to check in and even answer any questions I had. I consider Doug a friend now and not just a therapist. I would 110% recommend this man to anyone who is feeling a bit lost right now or needs some direction in their lives.
Excellent care so far
He has helped me feel comfortable even though I don't feel comfortable enough to do a zoom or chat. He still messages me and makes sure we get to the route of what's going on. He works through my issues and has been great
